Making memories on the beach of Castlerock

On the North Coast of Northern Ireland, in County Londonderry is a little seaside village called Castlerock. It’s a place I spent a huge chunk of my childhood in and it holds a special place in my heart. Sharing my favourite place in the world with my family has been lovely over the last few years and what makes this time more amazing, is teaching my children the very thing that my Dad taught me to do, all those years ago on that very same beach; body boarding.  Like all of our day trips, we hopped on a train and…

Gruffalo Hunting at Colin Glen Forest

Ever since the Gruffalo trail opened at Colin Glen Forest in Belfast, we have wanted to go. But every time we tried, something else got in the way – as is life! But after I made our Summer Bucket List I made sure it was on our list. Then one day, we packed a picnic & off we went on a Gruffalo Hunt.  The Gruffalo is a much-loved children’s book throughout the world and it’s also a favourite of my daughter’s. We love nothing more than sitting on her bed together, her little bare toes wriggling with excitement as I…

Funfairs, Party planning & a goldfish!

In one week’s time, my eldest girl will be twelve. I cannot even comprehend how she is 7 days away from being 12yrs old because I remember the morning she was born like it was yesterday. But more on that next week! For now, I am still planning her party – apparently, when you turn twelve, inflatables just don’t cut it anymore. So I’ve had to up my party game a few notches. Planning a party for a tween girl {whose ungirly} has been quite tricky – but we cracked it in the end.  She decided on a Party Bus {without…

An afternoon at Craigavon Lakes

Northern Ireland is a beautiful, beautiful country and the majority of it still remains a mystery to me. Craigavon was a place in particular that I had never been too before and we excited to visit. We were actually there to have a little shop around Rushmere Shopping centre ahead of National Children’s Day and if not for the bus driver telling us about Craigavon Lakes, then well, we would have missed a treat. Where you get off the bus at Rushmere Shopping Centre, you can walk across a flyover bridge & that leads you straight down to Craigavon Lakes…

Me & Mine Project | April 2017

I find it so hard to believe it’s the last day of April today and tomorrow will be May. The fifth month of 2017 already {almost} and trying to get my head around what being in May actually means, is insane. May means, ‘next’ month my kids will finish yet another year of school. May brings birthdays and anniversaries of loss. May brings the hope of summer holidays & daydreams of strawberry daiquiris in the sunshine. If we get any! But, May isn’t until tomorrow so let me tell you about how April was for us. Aside from the usual hustle…

An egg-cellent Easter break!

That’s it, folks. The Easter break is over. Done. Finished. It has been such a fabulous fortnight with the kids because we have been all over the place. It’s a good job I saved up too because the amount I spent would make you weep. I think for future school holidays I’ll do more research on free days out to do with the kids as well. But, in hindsight, we had a pretty epic Easter. We had days out, chill days to recover from the days out because Mummy here doesn’t do things by halves! I’m a lot like my…

Siblings | April 2017

How am I writing about my Siblings in April already? April has been an insanely busy month, thus far, for us with day trips and the Easter school holidays. I mean, don’t get me wrong, all of it has been amazing but it’s exhausting at the same time too. April kicked off with a Kids Superhero Day cruise with Stenaline. For us, this was a pretty awesome way to kick start a whole new month. We had such a great day and it tired the kids out too which was a bonus for us Parents. It’s always a win to the grown-ups…

A day out in Bangor, Northern Ireland

My plan to visit somewhere fun & exciting each plan month is so far, going to plan. It’s pretty exciting actually and March saw what was meant to be a day trip to Dublin zoo, transform into a fun-filled day at the Pickie park in Bangor, County Down instead. And all down to our tumble dryer not doing what it was meant to do. Dry the clothes! So, Dublin zoo wasn’t planned for us on this day, so as a backup we hopped on a train to Bangor instead. The sun shone, the kids were happy and the fresh air…

Me & Mine project | March 2017

So far, so good! My plans this year were to take our Me & Mine project photos in a different place each month. I’m shocked to report {and I know we’re only three months in} but…we’re doing it! In January we took our first family photo of 2017 in Castlerock {there was actual frost on the beach!}. In February we snapped our photos in Portrush & this month we took our family snapshots in Bangor.  One theme I am noticing though is that, each month our photos are by the sea. But then I thought, we do live on quite…
