Decorating our home for Halloween | 2018

I have to say, I love Halloween! Like, LOVE it. Maybe even more than Christmas – true fact! I started decorating our house up for the spookiest time of the year back at the start of October. Some people may think that’s a little too early but I say PISH POSH  to that remark!

For a few weeks now our home has resembled something akin to Shelob’s Lair {& if you don’t know who Shelob is? Then I don’t think we can be friends}. We have cobwebs dangling from pretty much everywhere {even the bathroom – but that wasn’t one of my best ideas – a bit scary when you need a wee in the dead of night!}.

Also, when you let your mind wander, ignoring the cobwebs {everywhere!} you find yourself double taking at some of the fake spiders, instantly assuming the movie Arachnophobia is happening to you, in real life. Your heart doesn’t half skip a few beats due to fear, let me tell you! But I guess being scared is part of the Halloween feel.

I already had quite the collection of Halloween decorations, thanks to a lovely Halloween Collaboration with Wilkos a year or so ago – providing us with some epic pieces that the kids love to bring out every year. Think spooky telephones and creepy make-you-jump trick or treat jars.

This year though, I found Poundland to be a golden ticket of a place when it came to Halloween props this year {well done to them!}. I managed to pick up skulls & owls whose eyes glow up red, diseased looking rats that will look adorably horrific on our Halloween party table as well as a whole array of skeletal creatures.

I also found little packets of mini spiders too, which came in really handy when doing the cobwebs all over the house. Not to mention the broken doll parts which I think will look creepy sprinkled in among the Halloween table treats!

I am very much a go-big-or-go-home-sort-of-girl, especially when it comes to decorating the house for occasions such as Halloween. As much to my Husbands bemusement, I swear I think the poor man just shrugs these things off as he knows there is no stopping me even if he tried! I think the place looks awesome {biased}. I mean, we’re having a party on Halloween night, so even the kitchen doors have decorations on them!

Needless to say, I love it all! I even think I could do more, but I think I’ll leave any further additions to next year! I am thinking we totally need one of those epic undead butlers for the front door, or maybe even a few creepy dolls lurking about the house. People hate creepy dolls – they are the perfect Halloween decoration!

Anyways, I have a Halloween party to organise and even a little liquid latex practice to get in before Halloween night! I hope whatever you do on Halloween night that you have fun, stay safe and have a wonderfully spooky time!
