Autumn, you are our favourite…

Autumn, is such a beautiful time of the year, wouldn’t you agree? I think you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who isn’t a fan of this gorgeous season. I think it’s a tough season not to fall in love with. The gorgeous colours that are everywhere you look, the crunchy leaves beneath your feet and not to mention the hot chocolate on tap! Which, should totally be a thing – don’t you think so?

Our days are getting shorter but if it’s dry outside? We have no excuses not to wrap up warm & go outside. “The fresh air will do you good” is something I always remember my Mummy saying to me and do you know what? She was 100% right. If anything, I just love to be able to keep the kids from gorging out on screen time or just vegging out in front of the TV – nothing irritates me more.

So getting out and about in the crisp, fresh Autumnal air is our favourite Autumn activity. Nothing beats rooting around the crunchy leaves for conkers {to keep those spiders away in our house} and Annabelle enjoys collecting all different coloured Autumn leaves to make cute Autumn crafts with.

Autumn challenge

Aside from collecting an abundance of conkers and an endless supply of leaves we’re lucky enough to live near a local woodland. A place where the kids can run, jump & scoot to their heart’s content and more importantly, be safe. Nothing makes me more nervous than my children riding their bikes or going on their scooters near a road. Even if it’s a small one!

So being able to take them to this local woodland park is glorious and the colours it brings at this time of year nothing less than beautiful.

Autumn challenge

On one afternoon, just last week, we wrapped up warm and took our Kettler Go-Kart {that we were kindly sent for this campaign} out for a spin. I’ll be honest, having one go-kart between three children was hard-work. “It’s my go next!”, “NO! IT’S MY GO!”, “It’s not fair, Mama – I only got to go on it for a minute!”. Queue the many, many eye-rolls from me. But we persevered and finally, the idea of sharing the one go-kart between three of them became easier. Thank goodness!

Autumn challenge

The go-kart itself is pretty awesome. It’s the Dakar Air from Kettler and it’s aimed at children aged 5-10. However, my eldest girl is 13 and due to the distance the adjustable seat is able to go back, it suits her also – which she is very pleased about.

Autumn challenge

This go-kart is very sturdy, easy to drive and comes with a 3yr guarantee. The adjustable seat – when turns are being had – is very easy to adjust, it literally takes 30 seconds and off they go. It certainly makes our Autumn walks much more fun, I’m a little bit jealous I can’t have a go myself!

Autumn challenge

We even took it off-road! Although, in fairness, there were that many leaves we couldn’t see the path for yellows, greens & brown leaves!

The kids really enjoy the freewheel option this go-kart comes with, too! However, my heart? Not so much! I think I have an adrenaline junkie gene in my DNA that I wasn’t aware of!

Autumn challenge

Our Autumn days, so far, have consisted of many walks to this woodland, many trips to the creek to skim stones and play ‘poo-sticks’ and coming home with grassy knees, muddy feet & dirty hands. The signs of a fun childhood!

Autumn days

I love places like this because kids can be kids, you know? No technology, not a screen in sight. Just fresh air, the great outdoors, trees to climb and nature to enjoy. I think heading out with this bunch is my favourite, especially on a crisp Autumn afternoon.

There are lots of things that make me happy in Autumn; the changing colours of the trees and warming comfort food. Like you we live near woodland and it is great taking the children for walks in the woods and kicking up leaves and collecting the many acorns that fall off of the oak trees in our garden!

I love it! I am also jealous that you have oak trees in your garden! #gardengoals

Autumn is my favourite season. I love all the warm colours nature offers. I love that the sky is bright but the air is crispy just like the leaves on the floor which are so tempting to kick to hear them rustle under your feet. I love that the wasps have all died off! But most of all, I love the smell of log fires and cosying up when the night’s draw in x
