Siblings | March 2017

March has been a really hard month so far. It started off with the husband being poorly, the littlest lady getting sick {the other two at home always miss the bugs – thankfully} and then lastly, I got it. Whatever bug was going rounds hits you straight on and it hits you hard. I’m usually quite resilient however not in this case. In this case, I was out of action for about a fortnight and good to no one. Queue the Mum guilt.  However, some things we just cannot help and I guess our March has just got off to…

Me & Mine Project {February 2017}

Well, February went by a bit fast didn’t it! It’s crazy to think we’re into the third month of 2017 already. But if there is anything to get excited about it’s the little signs of Spring that are popping up everywhere. The trees are slowly starting to bud, the sunshine is attempting to come out more {regardless of the skin-shearing winds} and we’ve even spotted a few daffodil sprouts lately! That’s a true sign that Spring is on its way, isn’t it? Those glorious yellow Daffodils. February has been a bit of bug-fueled month for us as a family because…

Our Bucket list for 2017

Spending time together as a family is so important and it’s something that we’re guilty of not doing enough. So, when I saw a bucket list idea over on What the Redhead Said blog, I knew we had to join in & make a family bucket list of our own. Every year we have this habit of making plans together and 9 times out of 10 they fall through. Life gets in the way or money will be short. This year, however, that will not happen! Because I plan to do as much, if not all of these amazing, fun {some on…

Me & Mine in October {2016}

This month I finally made the time {and the effort} to get back involved with our monthly me and mine family photos. The last one we did was the Me & Mine in June and let’s face it, that was ages ago! I am a little sad that I never got a chance to have any photos together in July, August & September {do wedding ones count? I’m still waiting on those!} and I don’t really know what got in the way of us actually taking them. However, I think the rule of thumb lately has been blinking and *POOF*…

Building dens with the DFS Sofa Fort Campaign

Building forts have to be up there with every child’s favorite past time. In fact, whatever the age, you have to admit, building dens and playing in them are pretty fun. So, when DFS sofas got in touch and challenged us to get involved in their sofa fort campaign, how could we refuse.  We try to make time during our crazy family days to spend actual quality time together. No TV, no homework needing to be done, no tech babysitters, just good old fashioned hanging out time as a family and teaming together to make this very simple sofa fort was just…

Making memories at Carrickfergus Castle

We may live on a relatively small island, but it is a beautiful island, regardless of her size. There are so many gorgeous places to visit here in Northern Ireland and we’re lucky enough to leave nearby to quite a few of them. We recently hopped on a train and paid a visit to Carrickfergus, a large town on the North shore of Belfast Lough. Carrickfergus is one of my favourite places in the world and I guess it’s because I have family from there, I have lots of childhood memories that have blossomed from Carrick and I suppose in…

Moments of joy with the #SoundofHappy Campaign.

As a Mum to five beautiful children {I’m biased, I know!} I have so many amazing moments of what made each of my children giggle. Whether that giggle was their first one or not, having those little snippets of time to cherish is amazing. But for this particular post, I am going to focus on my fifth and final child’s #soundofhappy moments, because…those moments will be the last time I experience them with any of my own children. Queue a little sound of my heart breaking.

Mama, you’re my best friend

When those words, “Mama, you’re my best friend!”, came out of the rosebud lips of my youngest daughter, my heart melted. I was lost for words and as I tried to hold back the tears, I took a deep breath and replied with “You’re my best friend too bubba”. When you’re 3-year-old child says something like this to you it makes everything else fade into a land of insignificance. The tedious repeating of “Mama! Mama! Mama! MAMA!” asked over and over and OVER again, fades.  Those nights when they’ve been bitten by the hyperactivity bug and make bedtime ten times…

An update on our speech delay journey

Ever since I shared my last post about our speech delay journey things have changed so much. Annabelle has turned corners, hurdled fences and come along so much during the last few months and it is crazy the difference in her ability to communicate with us. In fact, it’s wonderful. Looking back to January of this year, 2016, I never thought we would be where we are at today. I seriously thought she would begin her pre-school journey and still struggle with her words. I thought she wouldn’t be able to tell us how she felt or anything and that…
