Things I loved in October

October flew by me in such a flash that I am having difficulty remembering what we’ve even got up to! It’s been a whirlwind of movie nights, fairy-lit mantle pieces and decorating the house for Halloween. It was a lovely month though, don’t get me wrong – I just wish it hadn’t gone by so quickly.

Little Moments

Annabelle had her first Nursery Rhyme day in school – which is a day exclusively for the Primary 1 pupils and she went as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. It was quite lovely her choosing to go as Twinkle because, Ellie, my eldest daughter went as the same thing back when she was in P1.

Ellie went back to scouts recently, which is so amazing! Going into high school & being in the scouts took its toll on her last year and due to peer pressure and mouthing off from other students {for being in Scouts….really?} she left. But, a year on, I’m so incredibly proud that she decided to go back {regardless of what people at school said} and after a few months earned a position as an assistant leader of the Hawk patrol – which is very cool.

Beauty Bits

I don’t I have invested in so many beauty bits this month – however, I couldn’t resist picking up some of this Scooper Dooper foaming bath soak from Zoella. It’s so lusciously smooth in the bath, smells amazing and makes the softest bubbly bubbles.

I watched one of Zoella’s monthly favourite videos on her YouTube channel a wee while ago and it wasn’t until I was wandering through Superdrug that I was reminded of Bizou. Have you heard of it? It’s this delicious bath foam and you can get tasty donut, fizzy berry & more delicious scents.

Out & About

This month I started going to a little crochet & chat group in Whitehead – which I am well aware makes me sound as though I am 90! But, crochet is a craft, and a craft for all ages and it’s been loads of fun. Whitehead is the sweetest little town and it’s been lovely popping over to it each week.

What I loved in October

We visited the mesmerising and very poignant Weeping window of poppies which was {and still is} at the Ulster Museum in Belfast. An absolutely stunning sight and one that certainly puts life into perspective which is something we all need from time to time.

We have hung out at our favourite Geek cafe bar in Belfast, Vandal. We’ve enjoyed Spellwars {Star Wars & Harry Potter day} which was filled with Ham solo pizzas, Yoda Soda drinks & movies on the big screen! And more recently we went to hang out for a part of Geek Week at their Pokelunch – equipped with our Pokemon playing cards, and we even squeezed in a game of Pokemon monolopy as well as watching some of the classic shows.

Annabelle and I also swung by the My Little Pony party at one of our local cinemas; enjoyed doing some arts & crafts, getting a tattoo and all before the My Little Pony movie that was released just last week. We’ve not had a wee date just the two of us in ages, so this was lovely.

I went to see John Bishop at the start of the month which if you have never seen him before, and like his style of comedy – you must get tickets because his show was hilarious.

I took my littlest lady to the amazing Pumpkin Patch event that was being held at the Victoria Square, Belfast in collaboration with Asda. An adorable event for the kids to pick and decorate their own little pumpkins and all money went to both the NSPCC & Children in Need.

I went to see Wasp perform their album The Crimson Idol – Reidolised – United after 25yrs which was loads of fun!

We revisited our local Geek bar hang out, Vandal to get in on their Ghostbusters Day – which was lots of fun! I even got to live out an honest-to-goodness-life-long-dream and that was to wear a proton pack! My year was made! Dorky I know, but I’m not even sorry!

Finally, {it’s been a busy month!} I went to Hotter than Hell for their Gallius Cooper & KISS tribute night at the Limelight, Belfast.

I haven’t really bought much clothing for myself this month {no surprises there!} but I did pick up this super cool Trick or Treat top from Asos recently. I wore it when I went out to the Hotter than Hell Halloween Ball at the Limelight in Belfast!

I am still making my ways through Greys Anatomy….again! However, I have also caught up on the new season episodes of Scorpion, The Big Bang Theory & The Walking Dead. All very good shows and one that I have just picked up on {and love} is Seal Team. I have always been a fan of David Boreanaz ever since he started off in Angel. I followed him through Bones {another awesome show} and now, in Seal Team. If you’ve not had a chance to check it out, do! Lastly, Stranger Things 2! I could not be more excited for this and I have loved binge watching it since it aired!

You had a really busy month! I’ve never tried crochet although I imagine it’s quite relaxing. I’m rubbish at knitting though so suspect this isn’t for me. The Weeping Willow of poppies is beautiful.

You’ve had such a busy month. Lots of quality time with your kids – that’s so important. But I’m also glad to hear that you’re also getting your fair share of “me time” away from the kids.
