Mermaid birthday party inspiration with Party Pieces
This year, my littlest sprout turned seven. Seven years old and I am still in a state of disbelief. She celebrated hard and was nothing short of exhausted after all of the celebrations had ended. Much like the rest of us! I even think there’s still cake laying around, which is not good for my hips! But, for Annabelle’s final classroom birthday party we threw her a mega Mermaid Disco {with a little Pirate themed chucked in for the boys!} and it was so much fun!
Over the years, I’ve thrown some great parties for my kids {if I do say so myself!}. From a Unicorn Rainbow party with the most insane Unicorn Rainbow cake! I have also thrown a Superhero birthday party, that had a little bit of a cake disaster that thankfully all worked out in the end! Nothing like running out of colouring for buttercream at 10 pm the night before the party! Spoiler? The whole cake design had to be changed that same night. Talk about stress! But yes, some awesome parties have been thrown. Regardless of the stress? I’ve loved every minute of bringing them to life!
It was also lovely to collaborate with the lovely team at Party Pieces and feature some of their lovely party decorations. They have so many different themes, from Gaming party decorations to Space themed party bits. They also have Pamper party themes, Circus, Football, Fairies, Rainbows – gosh – I could go on! But the range of themes are great and you can check out all of the kid’s party themes on their website.
We were very kindly set out some gorgeous Glitter Mermaid paper plates, cups, a pretty Mermaid honeycomb centrepiece. Every table needs a centrepiece, right? We also received a gorgeous pink pearl-esk party curtain {I love a good party curtain!} as well as the prettiest tall pastel colour candles. You cannot have a cake without candles! And finally, a mermaid tail glitter garland {which is so pretty!} and as a bonus item, {which was a very kindly added in} we got sent the Mermaid Cloud Balloon banner.
Our Mermaid birthday party table looked the part! The quality of the Mermaid party table cover was great. I usually find some plastic table covers that can tear quite easily? But this one handled a room of kids grabbing buns and crisps and tackled any juice spillages, perfectly.
The only issue I had was with the Party curtain & the Mermaid Cloud balloon banner and I’ll tell you why. The party curtain was beautiful – no denying that – however, it was so fragile. I’ve used lots of party curtains over the years {mostly bought from Amazon} and they’ve all handled well with kids running through them etc. But this one sadly wasn’t too good on the quality front in my opinion. Which was a real shame because it looked so beautiful hanging up over the door.
As for the Mermaid cloud balloon banner, I could not tell you how excited I was to put this together and hang it up. It comes with 54 balloons, all different colours and sizes {some with a marble effect, some filled with confetti – gorgeous!} and also includes a 2m long banner to hang the balloons on.
I inflated all 54 balloons {which was a job in itself} and then I started to place them on the banner. I really did like how to the tail of the balloons could be put through and voila, your balloon banner was underway. However, when my balloon banner was complete, I could not hang it up. It constantly curled and the banner didn’t feel secure enough to hold all 54 balloons. Cellotape or blu tac wasn’t going to hold it, so I think you’d need command strips on your wall or something. What do you think?
Was it the 2m banner that provided the issue or was it my positioning of the balloons? I do not know. What I do know is that you can position the balloons how you like, so maybe the banner was the issue? Who knows. Either way, it was a shame because the balloons were such beautiful colours. I ended up having 54 balloons to position around the house -which the kids loved, so I guess it all worked out in the end!
Aside from the flimsy party curtain and the unruly balloon banner, the party decorations were lovely. They were the perfect touches to Annabelle’s Mermaid birthday party celebrations. We still have some confetti balloons around the house because, in all honesty, they’re too pretty to burst!
