Mad Hatters Tea Party & World Book Day!

On March 7th it will be World Book Day. A day dedicated to dressing up as your favourite book characters and reading your most-loved books. 

I don’t know about your child’s school, but mine are always encouraged to dress up on World Book Day. As well as dressing up as their favourite storybook character they are encouraged to bring along their favourite book, too.

We have a crazy house. There is never a dull moment and balancing that work/home life environment isn’t always easy. I have often found myself worrying over when I am going to sort out my child’s costume – in among everything else – leaving me spending less time with my child. George at Asda has estimated that parents can {on average} take up to 30minutes making a costume. Although, I have to admit I have spent hours previously putting some outfits together.

George at Asda has very kindly gifted Annabelle her World Book Day costume this year. Their aim is to give us parents #10minsback – which means more time to spend with our child. Whether it be having fun in our World book day costumes or reading our favourite books together. Either way, it’s less time worrying about putting a costume together and more time reading together. 

The range of World Book Day costumes from George at Asda honestly, never fail to impress me. They are always so vibrant and fun and this year they are no different. It’s nice to see some of the old favourites still available as well as some new ones now available, too. Not to leave out the adult versions of a hand full of the costumes on sale, as well!

Annabelle chose something very different from her normal fancy dress choices, but also something that is very her. She chose the vibrant and fun Mad Hatter costume from Alice in Wonderland. A movie this kid has never seen! Perhaps I should remedy that this World Book Day, as well as snuggling down to read our favourite books together. 

This costume is so cute, I cannot even tell you. It looked amazing on the website. It looked even more amazing in person and it looks even better once Annabelle tried it on. The cutest was literally too much for me to handle. It’s the hat that makes it, I think. Aside from the cute tissue filled pockets and bright purple striped trousers. It’s without a doubt, the fun top hat with wild orange hair protruding from it that make the outfit. That’s my opinion anyway! 

We had a super fun photoshoot in our garden – which wasn’t exactly what I was aiming for! But the photos came out great, regardless. Or I seem to think so anyway! Taking photos can be so simple and fun when you have something exciting in front of the lens. 

I have to admit. We both had lots of fun on this little mini shoot. I had much bigger plans for it, but time got away with me in the end – but I’m happy with the photos. This kid of mine does love to dress up and you can tell from these photos, too!
