AD | Learning how my body works, with In the Book.com

I am a mother of five children and as you can imagine, I am pretty proud of that. I also know how incredibly lucky I am to have had five reasonably unproblematic pregnancies & labours. Our female bodies are nothing short of amazing. How they function, make space for a growing baby, how our organs get smushed as the months go on but everything continues to work as normal. It’s insane. But as a whole, obviously, every single human body on this planet is incredible. And Annabelle was very kindly sent a Personalised Book called “How my Body works!” from In the Book to enjoy.

How my Body works from In the Book

This collaboration with In the Book came along at a pretty perfect time because Annabelle is now in P5 and learning about the human body. I cannot get enough of how curious she is about how it all functions and works. Without certain ‘parts’, other parts of our body wouldn’t function right, or at all. And every single aspect of the human body i.e. what it can go through, withstand, grow, heal from and more is nothing short of impressive.

In the book review

The How my Body Works book is a lot of fun. It’s super colourful, the illustrations are cool but not gross. As I know some children would be put off by such images. My Annabelle on the other hand loves it. The grosser the better! But this is also a really good starter book to wean them into learning about our bodies.

IntheBook.com review

When ordering this book on the In the Book website, I loved that you can add a little message for your child. This is shown on the first page, with Professor Snippet pointing at a whiteboard that displays your message. For Annabelle, I wrote, “Annabelle your body is an amazing thing! We only get one, so take care of it!”. The book feels really sturdy and not too thick which means it’s less daunting for little minds.

It isn’t too much for little minds!

And I know books about the human body can be a little intense with regards to the information on the pages. However, this book is filled with nothing too hard for little minds to take in. Because it is a collection of fun and interesting facts about certain parts of the body. Little Snippets of information as it were. Such as “Our eyes are made up of over 200 million parts!” and “On average your heart beats 100,000 times every day!”. While going into more detail about certain organs and their functions i.e. throat, stomach, heart, lungs and so on. All the while, your child’s name pops up through Professor Snippets explanation and facts throughout the pages.

Respiratory system

Annabelle loves having this book and every day they have a session in class, about Human Biology or Anatomy. She refers to this book to get another visual of what she learned in the classroom.

It really is a fun book and In the Book have a whole range of lovely books on their website. I love it because she can learn from it, use it for reference and also impress her family and friends with her human body facts and snippets.
