What is the best flooring for your home?

We have lived in our 3 bedroomed terrace rental home now, for…gosh...8 years. Which, is the longest home I have had since I was 21! So I don’t really care how run down it is because it’s ours. Sort of. Due to it being rented we haven’t really done anything to it, other than painting the walls and maintaining it. However, there comes a point where you need to change the bigger things because, well, they’re 8+yrs old for a start!
This little home of ours has a selection of flooring throughout the house. We have laminate flooring throughout the living room & den {which we have as a home office, too}, with linoleum flooring in the kitchen. We have carpet up the stairs and along the landing, linoleum in our bathrooms and then out of the three bedrooms, two are carpeted and one is laminate.

So I guess what I am trying to get at is, is there a type of flooring you should have throughout? Or, are you a fan of part carpet, part laminate like we have?
I don’t mind the variety of flooring if I am being completely honest. I think both laminate and carpet come with their pros & cons. Whereas, laminate flooring is so much easier to clean, whereas carpet? Takes a little more work. For example, the carpet in our bedroom needs replacing, like, soon! It’s old, gross, has stains in places that will not budge no matter what I have tried. So a new carpet is needed – but always get reprioritised! You know what it’s like!

But this year we are biting the bullet and determined to part with the money to replace it. It is time. Now comes the decision however to choose between carpet and laminate flooring. Do we stick with carpet? Or go for a modern look with laminate flooring? It’s not an easy decision!
Once the decision has been made then any final tweaks can be done. Like finally getting round to adding framed prints to our walls, or making our stairwell photo gallery! Both of which are 2019 goals of mine! But the flooring is first.
What flooring do you prefer throughout your home?

I have grey carpets in my home and absolutely love how they look but would love to add laminate for the dining room.
We’ve had our flooring for just under a year and its full of chips and deep cuts. So gutted as if it carries on like this we will have to replace it again
I like comfort in the living room and bedroom so opt for carpet there but like the ease of cleaning wood or tiles in heavily used areas like the hall and kitchen
Carpet can look modern too lol. Grey is the new cream…and looks waaaaaayyyy better!!! We had to floor the entire house as it came with all bare concrete floors so we went with carpet in the living room, stairs, landing and bedrooms ( different type of carpet in each room but all grey shades, one with glitter through it!!! And tiles on the hall, kitchen/dining room, bathroom and ensuite.
