My 2020 intentions {no resolutions here!}

My 2020 intentions {no resolutions here!}

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

It’s the first day of a brand new, shiny year and I’d like to say I’m excited? But quite frankly {and truthfully}, I’m still very tired. Not even a cup of tea helped this morning! But anyways…hello January 1st! Being the start of the new year I thought I would share something a little different. My intentions for 2020! Not only my new header – what do you think? But…every ‘new year’ my social feed is filled with peoples new year resolutions and I think we just have to be honest with ourselves and admit that they never hang around. They always flop mid-month and then we kick ourselves for not sticking to them. I am so guilty of this and I know you reading this {yes, you!} have done the same and it’s OK!

It’s OK to eat the bread you promised yourself that you wouldn’t, it’s also completely fine to delve into the biscuit tin before breakfast! It is OK! You don’t need to go on fad diets, or feel the pressure of squeezing into the jeans you’ve held onto since 2003! Just learn to be happy with yourself. Accept your wobbly bits and enjoy the skin your in! All of that pressure and social media weight can do one – am I right?

So yes, there is no ‘new year – new me’ malarky here, so apologies if you’ve got this far to be disappointed. This year I am making ‘intentions’ – which means ‘no pressure’ and I am living for that.

I turn forty this year. FORTY! And the last thing my face needs is any more wrinkles {which is caused by stress!} and I do not need any of that sort of negativity in my life – thank you very much. However {side note} if you know of any good anti-ageing/wrinkle creams? Hit me up!

I have lots of lovely intentions for 2020 and I’m starting with being more present in our photos. Most of the time, it’s just me taking the kids out as my Husband has work etc. So taking selfies with embarrassingly short arms is never successful. However, I did buy a cool Bluetooth selfie stick that is also a tripod last year. So now? I have no excuses not to be in those photos!

Another intention of mine is to get out more with the kids. Not to anywhere that is going to cost money {my bank account cannot hack it after Christmas!}. But for family walks. Goodness me, we need it!

Places to visit in Northern ireland

We consumed a shameful amount of food over the festive period {which, I know you can relate!} and besides, getting out into the fresh air is good for you! However, admittedly, I think we’ll have to drag ourselves out to walk the first few times!

I would also love to add more fun and engaging content to my blog. I tried this last year and I didn’t do it as much as I would have liked. Blogging and working part-time is hard work and leaves very little time to creating content.

However, this year? I’m really going to try and bring more recipes, crafting tutorials etc. Even if it’s once per month! This is a no-pressure year, remember! If there are any crafts/recipes you’d like to see, drop me a comment!

This next intention has been one I have had a resolution/goal in the past. I’ve never stuck to it. But hey, what’s another go at it, eh!

I’d like to exercise more. I need to exercise more. I’m getting pretty fluffy around the edges, more so than recent years and I’d like to reverse that a little. I would like to try and fit in a 10min workout per day – that’s not much, right? It’s totally do-able! Hopefully! I guess the issue isn’t having the physical energy to do it, but the mental energy!

Other intentions this year are things like going on more epic adventures with the family. We loved visiting Rathlin Island and Ballycastle last year – so more new places to explore is going to be fun!

My husband and I would also like to save more, which has always been his area of expertise rather than mine! So I guess, me learning to save more this year is a good intention. It would certainly make things easier!

As a parent of young men, a teenager, a tween and a small, I would like to be less stressed – which isn’t going to be easy! But I’m going to try. Remember we’re trying to slow down the ageing process here! I’d also like to be more of a yes Mum!

As a final round-up of intentions for 2020, I would love to monumentally declutter our house and loft. I dream of an organised loft, which I know is a weird thing to be excited about having! But I’m sure I’m not alone on that! And lastly, I would love to make more video snippets of our adventures and travels. It is something I did once or twice last year and they’re fun to make and they also double up as memory keepsakes too which are nothing short of precious.

So there you go – my intentions for 2020! There is no pressure to achieve any of these, just a sprinkle of hope that I do! Do you have any hopes/resolutions/goals/intentions for this year?

  • I tend to make my proper resolutions in February!! I can’t think straight in January — there’s always so much pressure!!!! Still not 100% sure what I’m going to challenge myself this year…. just need to get into the swing of the new decade gently first!! XX

  • This year, I did not make any resolutions nor did I try to think of a Word for the year. I plan to live my life fully – one day at a time. If I would name one goal (just one) for myself, it would be to stay healthy. Good luck and wishing you the best this year can offer.

  • I did not have any resolutions this year either. I feel like people set themselves up to fail when they put to much pressure on themselves.

  • I turned 40 a year and a half ago! I know the feeling! haha. It looks like you have some awesome intentions this year. Good luck! 🙂

  • Sounds good to me! That’s my goal for this year, as well – to stop pushing myself and trying to be perfection itself. I have bipolar syndrome, and although my meds pretty much take care of the depression, the mania side keeps me pretty busy sometimes – just can’t stop ‘doing’ so I’m trying to be a little easier on myself. Glad to know someone else doesn’t have a huge pile of resolutions for 2020!
