Happy Easter, lockdown edition!
Happy Easter! I think we can all agree that Easter was a little weird, this year. Right? Having an Easter lockdown edition was very weird, but we made it work.
The weather has been glorious! Like, I’m waking up every day, seeing the sunshine and thinking if I blink there will be grey clouds and the threat of snow. This is Northern Ireland after all. We have been known to experience all four season in one afternoon, so it cannot be ruled out. It must not be ruled out! However, the sunshine has been fabulous! So much so, that I can even see the bottom of my washing basket, which makes me a very happy Mama!
Have you had a Happy Easter?
We had not one, but two Easter egg hunts! Which was a good thing for the kids, but now a bad thing for me as I think this is what they will expect next year! I hope not!
One was for the blog, which they loved {QR Code Easter egg hunt if you fancy a nosy} and the other was on Easter Sunday. According to my sources, the Easter bunny is a key worker and gave parents all over the world the special job of setting up the Easter egg hunt. Annabelle wasn’t overly pleased that he hadn’t set up all of the eggs for her to find as soon as she woke up. But in reality? We had to wait until Jacob came home from his Dads that afternoon.
Easter egg hunt & Grandparents
Before the egg hunt, we had a little visit from my Dad and Step-Mum – all adhering to social distancing, of course! It’s all quite bittersweet in its own way, all of this, isn’t it? I mean, usually when they popped round the kids would give hugs, we’d have tea etc. But this visit consisted of us standing in our doorway and them standing at our garden gate. It’s all very…strange and also quite sad. But it won’t be forever and I for one cannot wait to hug my Dad when this is all over.
After the Grandparents left and we all wished each other a ‘Happy Easter’ {and the kid’s Easter egg stash pretty much doubled!} We had our Easter egg hunt and the kids really enjoyed it. Obviously, we couldn’t do our usual egg rolling at the Ulster Folk Museum or visiting the local Zoo. Which is something my parents always did with me when I was little. But we made the most out of it all, as best we could. We had fun, the kids got copious amounts of chocolate and we still made some lovely memories.

Before the social distancing visit and egg hunt, I managed to whip up a delicious Easter cake {inspired by Pinterest, naturally}. I have to admit though, I was rather proud how it turned out. It was also a tasty bonus to enjoy after the epic {if I do say so myself} Easter Sunday roast I whipped up for the family, too.
So all in all, it was a good day! Easter lockdown edition wasn’t so bad, after all! It’s certainly an Easter we won’t forget in a hurry! I hope you guys all had a wonderful and Happy Easter {lockdown edition} too and you’re all staying safe and well.
