Crate Creatures Surprise Review

I am always on the lookout for new & fun toys to capture my daughter’s imagination. We were kindly sent a Crate Creature surprise recently and Annabelle was so excited to open it up to see who she got. Obviously, it says on the side of the box {and his name on the front} but she didn’t like that ruin the surprise aspect for her. You have to love a 5yr old, right! Because it really is all about the excitement of opening things up.

The crates are pretty fun to open – they come with a chain around the box {to keep your monster contained}, a padlock on top and a crowbar on the side. The crowbar will help you open the lock and to open to the crate once you remove the chains.

Once you open up the crate, your monster will pop up – thanks to a spring-loaded platform – which is a pretty fun way to have him introduce himself. Annabelle got Blizz,  the Ice Monster. With her new found friend, he came with his own frozen ice lolly treat to feed him with.

So, what can Blizz do?

  • You can pull his tongue and he’ll make a bunch of monstrous noises
  • When you pull his tongue, he also vibrates
  • His eyes lit up
  • You can record your own message by pushing his tummy and he’ll repeat it back in a monstrous voice
  • Blizz comes with 45+ sayings & noises
  • Due to the internal motion sensor, he can make funny noises when lying down, upside down or knocked over

Blizz is actually very cute and I haven’t seen my daughter love a toy, this much, in a long time. So, for me? This is so lovely to see. She carries him around everywhere! She’ll talk to him, play cards with him, record messages so she can interact more with him. They really are the best of friends.

Another aspect that she loves and I have to agree, is the crate. This is such a cool way of packaging these crate creatures and not only are they incredibly fun to open, but they are great at storing him in too. Or, just being able to open it again & again & again.

Seeing how much Annabelle loves Blizz, I can see me investing in a second Crate creature for her. There are four monsters to choose from in the Crate Creature Surprise range and they cost £39.99. Which I have to say, seeing & knowing how much Blizz is played with and is loved – I think it’s a great price.

Disclosure: We were kindly sent this product in return for an honest review. All thoughts & photos are my own.

Can a monster be cute, as this toy is?! I love how it jumps out at you too with the spring loaded mechanism. I also like the fact that it talks and you can record your own message

I think so because he so totally IS adorable! haha! The recording your voice and playing it back in a monster voice is a cool feature!

The crate is such a lovely way of packaging the product, as well as being a ‘home’ for when he isn’t being played with.
