ZURU Smashers Series 2 GROSS review

We were recently given the opportunity to review the new Smashers Series 2 collectables from ZURU and if there is one thing my youngest daughter loves, it’s collectables {and things you can smash!}.

We were also kindly sent the Sludge bus playset which includes a pretty rank restroom as well as being able to fling smashers into a toilet with two exclusive playset gross characters!

This latest series has a certain GROSS twist, coming up to Halloween and all, they are very fitting! You may remember the Series 1 smashers? They were just plain red smashballs for your children to smash?

Well, series 2 smashballs are bloodshot eyeballs which my daughter found particularly cool and in truth, so did I.

If you have never owned or seen Smashers before, you just smash the smashball to release one of the 100+ gross characters inside. In this series, there are ‘Icky Insects’, ‘Odd Bodies’, ‘Ooze Dudes’ & so many more {some are even covered in slime!} and like many collectables, there are rare, ultra-rare, exclusive & see-thru characters to collect.

As well as loving the task of smashing her eyeballs to find what characters she unleashed, Annabelle thinks the Sludge bus is cool because she loves having somewhere to play with {and store} her smashers. She finds it hilarious as she tries to fling them into the toilet – in fact – we make a sort of competition out of it. It all gets very competitive! But it’s a lot of fun and it’s just another way to interact with these cute {but gross} collectables.

The sludge bus goes from being just a regular push around bus…which can open up to reveal a pretty gross bathroom with lots more to do with your smasher’s characters. The sludge bus can store over 50 smashers characters and as a parent, I love a product that doubles up as a toy & a storage container. Don’t you?

There is an app that you can download as well to help you keep track of your smasher’s collection – a handy feature I thought! However, the app doesn’t work for us, which is a shame. We are Android users and it just keeps crashing when we open it. Although, we’re hoping the bugs will be squashed soon and Annabelle can start logging the Smasher’s she owns and tick the ones she’d like!

We are big Smashers fans in this house. In fact, I think anything small & collectable, my youngest will love. She loves that these are more on the gross side because these are totally up her street.

We also think it’s pretty cool that you can reassemble the smashballs to smash again & again and again. Reoccuring fun whenever the urge takes you. As a side note, I think reassembling the smashballs is great for children’s fine motor skills, too.

Be sure to check them out over on the Zuru.com & keep an eye out for them in stores, such as; Argos, Smyths Toys, Entertainer & Tesco.

Disclosure: We were kindly sent the above products in return for an honest review. All thoughts, photos & opinions are entirely my own

Haha! Kids do love a collectable and these ones are particularly cool, especially since they are a little more gross than the regular ones!

Ooh, I’ve not seen these ones before! They’re definitely something Oscar would enjoy playing with though. He likes anything that’s collectible 🙂
