AD – Winter Walks & Outdoor footwear for Families
Whenever I can get my gang out for a crisp Wintery walk, I do so. I have one teenager and one pre-teen at home {as well as a sassy 7yr old!}. So you can only imagine what that’s like to get them to remove themselves from their bed’s nevermind go outside. God forbid! However, when I am successful, they always enjoy it. We have the most beautiful woodland near where we live with Viaducts, plenty of trees to climb and the best part? A small river to skim stones on. So, when Millets got in touch recently and wanted to collaborate on an outdoor footwear campaign I couldn’t say no.
Have you ever gifted anyone outdoor footwear for Christmas? I am an ex-RAF cadet, so hiking boots are my jam and as fate would have it, my faithful pair of GORE-TEX®, that was around 9 years old and clearly worn to death, walked their last mile. So the timing of this collaboration could not have been more perfect.
If you are a frequent hiker or a woodland walker with the family, then I think being gifted walking boots is amazing. They are such an investment piece and during our summer adventures to castles on clifftops and sandy beaches, mine are never off my feet.
Millets not only kindly sent me a pair of women’s walking boots, but they sent my children out some too. My younger children’s outdoor footwear of choice was always wellie boots or trainers on our walks. But now they have something more suitable for the terrain and of course, to handle the elements i.e. muddy puddles and slippery pathways.
Getting outdoors as a family
My girls and I took ourselves out one afternoon recently and the air was crisp. Winter is definitely here! It was even a little icy, which made having these walking boots for the family even better. The girls had a blast running through the leaves, exploring and just being…well…kids!
We all agreed on how comfortable our new hiking shoes and boots were. I always get my kid’s new Winter-style footwear around this time of year. But with everything that’s been going on throughout this last few months, Millets beat me to it! For which I am very thankful.
This isn’t my first GORE-TEX® rodeo, but it is the girls first time wearing Peter Storm and Freedom Trail walking shoes. They both gave the footwear a big thumbs up.
Overall thoughts on Outdoor footwear?
Do we recommend these walking boots/shoes? 100%, yes. They are comfortable, sturdy, waterproof {Scarpa Boots only} and the colours are great. I think Millets read my mind as my old previous pair of trusty GORE-TEX® Walking boots were also brown! So I adore these Scarpa Women’s Cyrus Mid GORE-TEX® Boots and they usually RRP for £155.00, but they are currently available for £120.00. I see boots like this has a true investment piece, as my last pair did me almost ten years and I wore them religiously.
So buying walking/hiking shoes/boots as a gift, especially if you are a fan of getting outdoors for walks or into the hills and mountains for a hike make the perfect present. Even for your kids because nothing beats having proper footwear when you go out for a walk.
My older kids have the Kid’s Buxton Walking shoe from Freedom Trail and they usually RRP for £30, but they are currently on offer for under £10! A bargain not to be missed. Annabelle has a pair of Peter Storm Kid’s Harwood II Low Hiking Shoes that also {usually} RRP for £50.00 but are on offer for £22.
We have loved collaborating with Millets on this campaign for outdoor footwear. Having these new shoes for myself and the kids means we can get out to more walks and not have to worry about trainers getting muddy! Which is something my pre-teen son is forever complaining about! Kids, eh!
