World of Wonder Soft play centre in Carrickfergus

Quite recently, my family & I were very kindly invited along to a VIP session of the new World of Wonder soft play activity centre in Carrickfergus {behind the Loughshore Hotel} to have fun and a cheeky viewing of the place before it opens to the public.

Hearing of this new indoor activity centre excited me, because, Carrickfergus is such a lovely town {I have childhood roots there} and I think this new play area is just what the place needed. It’s nice to have something different and refreshing as World of Wonder. And to have it so local, too!

The placement of the indoor activity is a good 10/15 min walk from the town centre of Carrickfergus. It is just behind the Loughshore Hotel.

When you walk into World of Wonder I love that you walk into a super fun departure style lounge. There are benches to allow the children to sit safely to remove their shoes {however, kids being kids and excitable they do tend to just remove them as a run and fling them at their parents!}.

There are fun murals on the walls of aeroplanes, pilots, the ‘welcome’ counter with really lovely staff. A really fun departure lounge before you turn to walk through the airport scanners to enter the activity centre. All super fun right? I was so charmed by it all because it was so different from anything I’d seen before.

When you walk through the scanners you enter a huge space and my eyes immediately twinkled with the sight of the leaning tower of Pisa. There is also a hot air balloon, signs with places around the world and so much more.

The kids immediately awaited the nod of approval to allow them to disperse into the fun that awaited them. I was personally dazzled by it all. To my left was an adorable market cafe with those cute little-striped hut type stalls, there are flower lights on the ceiling and a really generous space for parents to sit, enjoy a cuppa, all while being able to watch their children.

I really appreciated the effort and vision that went into designing this activity centre. From where I stood it was clear that a lot of love went into it because everything seemed to be covered. There is a very sweet Fairy castle for the little ones, equipped with soft play, a spin-me disc, slides, a ball pool and more.

There is also a basketball/football pitch with artificial grass to play on {it’s those little touches isn’t it!}. My husband and son were hardly out of this part and with it being separate from the rest of the activity centre, no balls could get out and accidentally hit any little ones.

The first thing my 3 yr old went to {and I wasn’t even surprised} was the little track placed next to the fairy castle. It has two go-karts {you pay £1} and you get about 3 mins worth of driving around the track.

This is such a fun little feature but could do with being a bit bigger because if one child is driving around they would constantly crash into the non-moving cart. It’s a little tweak that could be made which would make that feature much better for the little’s ones I think.

The main part of the soft play was amazing. The tower of Pisa is actually layers of webbing that the children can climb through all the way to the top, then access the upper levels of the soft play frame. The kids thought it was so fun having Spiderman there to climb along with them.

In fact, Spiderman is a recent love of my 3yr old and she stuck to him like a little shadow throughout his time there. Poor Spidey! But he was amazing because he posed for photos with the kids and even showed my 3yr old a few of his tricks, which she tried to copy, naturally. During our time there the kids also saw Marshall from Paw Patrol, Cinderella, Raphael from TMNT, a super Minion {Bello!} and Pikachu even paid a visit too. WOW, right?

Whilst there during our VIP visit was very kindly offered unlimited juice for the children, tea and coffee for us parents, as well as traybakes and buns. Not to mention the delicious buffet we had for lunch too, the food was really lovely.

Birthday party rooms at soft play!

But, before trying to round up the children and give a futile attempt to get them to leave…I took a peek into the 4 birthday party rooms to choose from at World of Wonder. The rooms are super cool and the artwork on the walls are pretty amazing. The party rooms to choose from are; Zoo animals, Princess, Beach & Superheros.

Overall thoughts…

You’ll have to pop over for a visit to see what the princess room is like! But trust me, you won’t be disappointed. We’re planning to book our youngest’s birthday there for early next year and we’re already excited.

We had a truly amazing time during our visit to the World of Wonder activity centre in Carrickfergus. It was so amazing to see so much love going to this new activity centre. And it was also amazing knowing that everyone working there, both staff and management. All had a hand in forming this amazing new place for children. A huge thank you to them for inviting us along and we will be back soon.
