A magical time at The Cursed Goblet Pop-up Potion Experience!

As a massive Harry Potter fan, I cannot tell you my excitement when I heard of The Cursed Goblet. Which is a Pop-up Potion experience, situated in The Parlour Bar near Queens University. Think, bubbling bottles and jars behind the bar and floating candlesticks. Visualise cauldrons cooking up spells and wizards trinkets on every surface. Close your eyes and you can hear a train on the tracks in the distance as well as a trio of goblins looking suspicious on a shelf. This is what The Cursed Goblet had in store for us.
When you walk into The Parlour Bar, you will see the entrance to The Cursed Goblet on your right. With a castle-esk doorway and a staircase lined with old paintings – the entrance is an impressive one. Once you reach the top of the stairs you enter The Cursed Goblet, with a bubbling cauldron, candlesticks floating above your head – but first, you need to watch a quick video and put on your wizard’s robe. I thought this aspect of the experience was particularly cool!
So, what is The Cursed Goblet’s Pop-Up Potion experience?
It’s quite simple and also a bit fabulous! It’s a 2 hr experience to allow you to conjure and concoct your own cocktails. As I mentioned before, robes must be worn at all times and once you’re feeling all wizard-like & magical, you’re shown to your table.
When you arrive, your table will be set up for you to conjure up your first cocktail. There is also a cauldron and a locked box – but both of those aren’t needed until your conjuring up your third and final cocktail.

We had to use pipets, beakers and conical flasks, amongst other things to concoct our first cocktail and I won’t lie – we adored every second! The attention to detail is exquisite. Not to mention, the feeling you get when you fully immerse yourself, is nothing short of magical. There were gasps from us both, “Ooo’s” of wonder and giggles of utter giddiness! And this was just the first cocktail!

The second cocktail was lots of fun. You need to see the Goblins if you want that second drink {don’t forget your wand!}! This second cocktail concoction was delicious and I’m pretty sure there was some sort of Watermelon liquor in it.
We enjoyed our next cocktail in the train carriage of the Queens Express. See what they did there? Very clever. The doors of the carriage even close! So it feels like your own little space and it’s such a comfortable area to relax in. It’s also far too easy to forget that you’re not on an actual train!

Your third and final cocktail requires you to crack a riddle. Hint? Listen to the video at the beginning of your experience! That’s all I will say! However, I will add that I was expecting the riddle to be a little trickier than it was because it was quite simple. It was still a lot of fun and it did add a real element of suspense to the experience.
We also loved how you had to crack the riddle in order to unlock the ingredients for your third and final cocktail – known as The Poisoned Apple. There is a really cool element for this cocktail, which is ‘dragon’s breathe’ and the use of your cauldron!

This experience was seriously cool and everything about it was just amazing. From being able to wander around with your cocktails, enjoying all of the decors, to taking photos with broomsticks {a must-do!}. In a nutshell, if you are a Harry Potter fan, you will get lost in the magic of this place – my friend and I were totally in our element and it’s an experience that I could not recommend enough.
This Pop-up Potion experience costs £30pp for a 2hr session, which includes 3 cocktails. To book your session, you can do so over on The Cursed Goblet website.
