My ideal Garden {A girl can dream!}

I think one of the main features that can make a house great – is a nice big garden. Our current garden isn’t the biggest and with the prospects of us moving house later this year the hopes of a better garden are pretty exciting.

We have had a look at the ‘possible’ new garden and even though it’s not the biggest – it still has potential and that has set me off on a tangent of designing my ideal garden. I’m like a dog with a bone once I set my mind to something! There is without a doubt a few things that I would just love to add to our new garden – we’re a bit of a nerdy yet whimsical family when it comes to our gardens. We love fairy lights and pixie doors, artificial grass and tire swings on trees. Outdoor dining tables and hammocks to laze on.  A place where we can enjoy alfresco dining as a family and somewhere the kids can have fun in, safely.

Also, somewhere that’s not just perfect for the children to play in, but somewhere – once the kids are tucked up in their beds {and on a warm Autumnal evening} us Parents can have somewhere to breathe & relax. A place where we can hang up our parental hats and cozy up together – maybe even hang a sheet over the washing line and whip out the projector; {Perhaps adding a projector to my ideal garden list would be useful – we don’t own one of those…yet}. But you get the idea!

Fairytale tree – Why not!? I love having a tree in our current garden and if our next garden lacks in one, then we shall just plant one. Problem sorted! It will be wrapped in copper wire fairy lights {solar powered of course} and sprinkled with fairy windows & doors. It’s the only way a tree should ever look – beautifully whimsical and a little magical.

Artifical grass – Two words for you; Less maintenance! Also, Artifical Grass London have an exciting giveaway live at the moment – giving one lucky winner the chance to win £100 worth of artificial grass for your garden. If you enter? Good luck! You can also find them over on @grassdirect for more information.

Bug hotel – Because my littlest sprout of the house is obsessed with creepy crawlies. Plus, I think they can be quite educational and fascinating having a bug hotel in your garden.

Veggie patch – Having our own patch to be a little more self-sufficient to grow our of fruits & vegetables has always been a dream of mine. I’ve just never got round to doing it. However, encouraging the children and me to grow our own food would be amazing to do.

Playhouse – Again, something else I have always wanted for the kids in the back garden. Somewhere where they can hang out together, or alone. Read some books, draw, have a tea party, whatever! I may even ask my Dad to rustle us up something if we do move house – he’s always been a handy wee man, my Daddy.

Outdoor table – I love a good rustic table and nothing would excite me more than having one in our back garden. Somewhere for us to eat together in the sunshine or under the stars or better still, under a layer of fairy lights.

Fairy lights – Basically because, I’m obsessed with fairy lights. I would have them all around our home if I could get away with it. I have some in the living room that my Husband doesn’t question and I may have some to go up in our bedroom – hopefully he fails to notice! However, having our back garden sprinkled with fairy lights would just give it that last magical touch of perfection.

Do you have any garden dreams? I’d love to hear them!

    What a great sounding garden your dream garden is, I have to admit I’m not sure what mine would be, I don’t have green fingers though so nothing too hard to take care of.

    I am now obsessed with the veggie patch. I wonder if my son could and would build it for me.

    You have some great ideas for your dream garden. I wish I had a garden myself but I live in a flat. If I had one though I would definitely grow a lot of flowers but also have a veggie corner.
