Meccano Rally Racer | Review

When I was little, I loved to build. It was something I got from my Dad because he was forever getting my Brother & I Lego. Which has resulted in my children having the very same Lego, in the same treasure chest that I used to play with. Which is pretty amazing. However, fast forward 30yrs {and some change!} and you can build all sorts nowadays. Which, I personally find quite exciting. It’s like we are trying to programme our children {in a non-robotic kind of way} to fall in love with engineering, building things and making it move. It’s an exciting field to have a career in.

In my troop of children, it is my eldest daughter who is the master builder. The collection of creations on shelves in her bedroom, speak volumes! So, when we were sent out the Meccano Rally Racer set to review, I knew she would love it.

It was a little daunting when we opened the box to find so many pieces, including the tiniest screw nuts I have ever seen. But it looked like it was going to be a really fun project to work on.

I left my eldest daughter to be the master builder that I know her to be. The instructions were easy enough to follow and in no time at all our rally car was taking shape.

And before we knew it…the Meccano rally racer was complete.

This was a really fun project for my daughter to work on. It was quite intricate in places too, so it suits the 8yrs+ age range. It is also something I would buy more of for my children because I think, not only is it a cool toy but it is something you have constructed yourself. There is a real sense of achievement in that and I think feeling pride for your work is something our children need to feel more of.

Is your child a fan of construction toys like Meccano?

Forget the kids! GIVE ME MECANO!! This is something I have loved forever. I’m 24 and still spend hours with my lego, and anything else I can put together (including the flat packed furniture ugh). I would be the happiest kidult in the world if someone sent me this as a gift!!!

Haha! This thought did go through my own mind when I was watching my daughter make this!
