Make your own Homemade Hot Chocolate Bombs!

A few weeks ago when I was having a nosy around the shops, I noticed that the Christmas stock was coming out thick and fast. It is always alongside the Halloween decorations, isn’t it? Something I am not totally on board with, but here we are. Hello, consumerism! And I spied something in among the Christmas stock that I have never seen before. Hot Chocolate Bombs! They cost around 89p per hot chocolate bomb.
So, I had an idea. A total light bulb moment if you will.
I was going to make my own as I think they would be much more cost-effective and for the ingredients needed? I could make far more at home than it would cost me to buy a single one from the store. Spoiler? I was right! I bought exactly what I needed, which I will share further down in this post, so don’t worry! For my ingredients, I needed melting chocolate as I already had cocoa powder and mini marshmallows at home already.
I shared my creations on my Instagram and they blew up! My phone went NUTS! I’ve never had a post go that wacky before, but it was a lot of fun. People loved the idea of creating their own hot chocolate bombs and guess what? They can be made, boxed up and gifted to friends and family, too! So cost-effective, fun to make and taste great! So they are an all-around win in my book.
Make your own Homemade Hot Chocolate Bombs
These are so simple to make. I had quite a few people ask on my Hot chocolate bomb Instagram post, “Where they fiddly to make!?” and my answer to that is, no! The only thing I needed to make my hot chocolate bombs a reality was a semi-sphere silicone mould.

After that, all I needed was melting chocolate {I used the 300g cake covering chocolate from Tesco, which cost 80p} & some mini marshmallows.

Make your hot chocolate bombs into gifts!
I love the idea of gifting a little bundle of hot chocolate bombs. Not only are they simple to make but they are fun to decorate too! You can then pop them into these cute Christmas cellophane bags as a singular gift or put a bundle of them into these Clear cellophane treat bags that are a little bigger than the Christmas treat bags.
Tie a pretty bow on the top and they are good to gift! You can even place them into the kids Christmas eve boxes, too! So simple and yet incredibly effective, too! Don’t you think so?
So there you have it! A wee tutorial to make your own Homemade Hot Chocolate bombs and do let me know how you get on! I have to be honest, I wasn’t planning on this to be a blog post. It was just meant to Instagram, hence the photos! So, when I make more soon, I will update my photos and even show you the ones I will have made up as wee gifts too!

I love hot cocoa bombs! I want to make a bunch for each holiday
My girls would have a FIELD DAY with this recipe!
I lovee hot chocolate! These recipes always look so delicious. I’ll have to give them a try when I’m feeling creative. I tend to opt for the lazier version and just mix in the instant packet.
OH EM GEE! I am obsessed with these! I bought a ton during the Christmas time but never thought about making my own. Going to make so many holiday themed ones this year!
I absolutely love these! They look so cute. The idea of watching hot chocolate form from one of these little balls is great!
Wow. This is so cool! I can make these and give them to my sister. She loves hot chocolate and this would really make her happy.
So much chocolate and marshmallows goodness in one treat! Awesome idea and best served warm :>
Buying is, of course, much easier. But making your own is likely better and who doesn’t love chocolate!
I think those are so neat. I wonder if I’d be adept enough to try and make some.
Those look so good! I think these are such a cute gift idea, too. They’d be perfect for the holidays.
Making them at home is certainly more difficult, but also more satisfying. You almost convinced me to try! hihihi
These look so yummy! Thank you for breaking down the recipe. I think it’s great that they are easier to make than I thought! Very cool.
I’ve been hearing so many things about these “bombs” but I didn’t quite know that they were so easy to make. I should try these hot chocolate bombs for my kids.
These look like such fun, delicious little gifts! I love how you put the contents inside of the chocolate ball. I’ll have to try these out.
