Let’s go on a QR Code Easter Egg hunt with HARIBO | AD

Oh, how the times have changed lately, eh!? I’m not going to mention the ‘v’ word or anything like that around here because none of us needs to hear any more about it, do we? So, I have created a super fun and ‘egg’stra special Easter egg hunt idea that will bring joy & happiness to kids all over the world! A bold statement, I know! But it’s true.

For this collaboration, I have teamed up with the lovely team at HARIBO for their #HARIBOEaster campaign. Let’s be honest, this Easter, it’s not going to be ‘normal’ is it? {for want of a better word} But, as parents we still need to find a way to bring our children happiness and fun during these very weird times. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I love an Easter egg hunt and I love Haribo – so the two make a pretty good team to bring a smile to a child’s {or adults!} face! Don’t you think?

Haribo have a fun collection of Easter treats to see you through. From Springtime Friends and Jelly Bunnies to bags full of those delicious Eggs Galore! Not leaving out the fun Chick’n’Mix with fizzy fruit-flavored gums, too! This year’s egg hunt will need something quite different and includes QR codes to add a little extra fun to your egg huts this year. So check out this QR Code Generator and get this year’s Easter egg hunt underway!

Now, I have quite techy kids, so I tried to think of something different for them to do this Easter – rather than their normal Easter egg hunt. My children are all different ages, so I guess I am trying to spark everyone’s interest in the festivities. Therefore, I am always trying to make things a little different {and hopefully, more fun} the next time around and I think this year’s Easter egg hunt will be just that.

So I thought, what about doing a QR Code Easter Egg Hunt! Now, if you’re not sure what a QR code is, it is a machine-readable code that can be read by the camera on your smartphone – after downloading a free QR code reader, of course. I managed to find a simple QR Code generator online, where I have been able to upload my Easter egg hunt clues, download the code, and print it off so I can stick it to {or place inside!} the eggs I will be hiding.

But do not worry! I have provided everything you need to help you pull off this super fun, Haribo-fueled QR Easter egg hunt for your kids. Everything you need is available to download {for free} at the end of this post.

Answers for the clues {for adults eyes only!}

Trash, Toilet paper, Printer, Table, Tub, Coat pocket, Laundry basket, Shoes, Fridge or Freezer, Bed, Grass, Oven or microwave, Dictionary, Bookcase, and Cup!

The way I did this was to give my kids the first ‘egg clue’, which leads them to clue number 2. Clue number 2 leads on to clue number 3 and so on. The sneak peeks at the clues above are in no particular order. So just double-check all of your QR codes are working {which they will be!} and just hide them accordingly!

This was a really fun Easter egg hunt to create – and it was 100% worth it because my kids loved it! It took them longer to finish than the usual dash around finding all of the eggs madness. But they really did enjoy it and it made me so happy watching them find the clues, figure them out, and then dashing off to find the next one. The laughs of them as they ran about the house was so much fun.

As for the QR code egg hunt … I have done all of the fiddly, creating part so all you have to do is download the printables {and the app}, print them off, hide the eggs and watch your kids have a blast! It is as simple as that!

How to make your own QR Code Egg Hunt

Putting this together isn’t as complicated as you may think and it is the perfect way to get the older kids involved in some Easter fun, too.

#HARIBOEaster

First things first, here is everything you will need:

  • An iPad, Amazon Kids Fire tablet, iPhone or Android device
  • A QR code reader app – I use the QR Code Generator.
  • A printer
  • A laminator {optional}
  • Something to put in the fillable eggs along with the QR codes! {I put Haribo, obviously!}

Now the fun part, hide your eggs! I numbered all of the clues {and the eggs} so I didn’t get confused {this happens a lot with me!} and helps when you’re hiding them all. And there you have it. A really fun twist on an Easter egg hunt tradition. Perfect for the more tech-minded kids and the older kids in the family too.

Just to make you aware, all of these clues, bar two are for indoors. Due to the current situation and all {i.e. lockdown!}. The two clues that aren’t for indoors are for your front garden. Just to make you aware!
