Fujifilm Instax 300 Wide Instant Camera Review

Ever since I held my first ever 35mm camera in my hands when I was 10 {that my Granny got for me with umpteen coke-a-cola labels & £2.99 P&P!} I knew I loved taking photographs. Fast forward twenty odd years and that love are still there. Yes, I have a DSLR which I love but there is just something so utterly fantastic about being able to take an instant photograph and to hold it in your hands as it develops before your very eyes.

So, instant cameras we love and as you all know I am a Bride to be with her own wedding to plan {never an easy task!} so when Fujifilm offered me a Fujifilm Instax Wide Wedding Bundle to review, do you think I would have said anything other than a big fat yes?

The Wedding bundle consists of the fabulous Fujifilm Instax Wide 300 Instant Camera, 3 x cartridges of instant film {20 in each pack}, Guestbook with a pen & sticky labels. A really handy package for any soon to be wed couple, especially if, like us, you’re planning on doing your own DIY photo booth.

The Instax camera itself is huge. Far bigger than I remember any instant cameras being way back when. In truth, though, it impressed me. It’s a big camera and with the wide image and focal zoom ability, they really make this instant camera a piece of kit to be reckoned with.

Regular mini Instax instant shots measure 86x54mm but with the Instax WIDE 300, your instants measure 86x108mm making them perfect for things like group shots at parties, weddings and even landscape shots too.

The camera comes with a range of easy-to-use functions such as an automatic flash for low lit situations {such as indoors etc}, you can use backlighting in your photos with the help of the fill-in flash and you’ve even got the option to choose-the-mood with exposure compensation. To non-camera-folk, you must think I am talking complete gibberish, but trust me, the manual tells you everything you need to know and its super duper easy!

The Instax WIDE 300 Wedding bundle comes with three packets of film {giving you 60 instants in total} and the cartridge will look like this ^{this one is actually empty}. You literally just slot it into the back of the camera {see below} and bobs your Uncle {as my Daddy would say!.

The fully retractable close-up lens is a thing of beauty. It even allows you to focus on subjects from 40cms away. On an instant camera. Just think about that and how AWESOME that is.

The camera is run by 4 x AA batteries and from the one set I have put in, and times that by the amount it’s been used. The batteries last a good while, so I think that’s a big plus as having to change batteries every ten minutes at a wedding would be a nightmare!

When I clicked that shutter button for the first time and saw that instant print rise up from the camera I’d be lying if I didn’t get a little excited. All of those childhood memories came flooding back. My kids, on the other hand, thought it was pretty amazing too. The instant prints look great, they’re a good size and just perfect for what we’ll be using it for at our Wedding.

As we’re planning on making our own DIY Wedding Photobooth it’s actually super handy that this Instax WIDE 300 has its own tripod socket. So we’re pretty set, all we need now is a backdrop and props and our own DIY Wedding photo booth is a go, go and all thanks to the Fujifilm Instax WIDE 300 Wedding bundle.

Lovely camera but we are going for either pink or teal insta pix camera from fujifilm. Matched the theme we are going for.

That’s a gorgeous instax camera. I have one of the smaller ones, and it is so exciting to use…too exciting for N, whom I found had finished off a whole cartridge of the carpet and kitchen table while I was still upstairs one day! The only downside of mine is the basic nature of it, and how hard it is to line subjects up in the viewfinder – they don’t seem to match what you see to what comes out on the photo.

Great fun though, and perfect for a wedding. Mine’s been borrowed for a friend’s daughter’s birthday party, for their photo booth.
