Family fun with Asmodee Games | Review

In this house, we love a good game. Whether it be video, board or cards. We love it all and it is something that just two or three of us can play or the whole lot of us together. Our games collection grew by two recently, when we were very kindly sent out Dobble & Copra Paw, from Asmodee to review.

Dobble & Cobra Paw Games Review

I was excited for Dobble because it’s a game that I’ve seen hovering around and I had heard good things – so I was definitely keen to play that one. Also, Cobra Paw is a game that I had, funnily enough, come across quite recently {shopping for Christmas presents, no doubt} and it looked like a lot of fun.

Both games are observation-based, which I knew right off the bat was going to be a challenge for me, personally. I swear, something could be literally, be right in front of me and I would be clueless. So I had faith that both of these games were going to inject me any sharpness I’ve lost after having five children!

Dobble

Dobble from Asmodee Games

Dobble is an award-winning visual perception game, aimed at children aged 6yrs+ and can be played with 2-8 players. It comes in a cute little metal tin and fits in the palm of your hand – which makes it the perfect travel game too!

The premise of the game is to compete with other players to find the matching symbol on the cards. Every card is unique and will only have one symbol in common with any other card in the deck. On each card the symbols are laid out at random – never the same – and some may even come in different sizes, in an attempt to throw you off!

Once you find a match, you shout out what it is ie. purple dog, cactus, dobble hand etc. Then, depending on which of the five mini-games you are playing, you either take that card or get rid of it. The winner, again, depending on the game you are playing will either get rid of all of their cards first or have the most at the end of the game.

Dobble is a seriously fun game to play – it adds the pressure, so don’t be fooled and it always makes us either laugh in excitement or scream in frustration! Either way, during each fast-paced game, it gets a lot of laughs and I am convinced my observation skills are increasing, so the kids may watch out!

Cobra Paw

Cobra Paw is an ancient tournament of speed and observation. It is aimed at children aged 6yrs+, each game lasts for around 5-15 minutes & is playable for up to 2-6 ninjas.

In this game, you need some serious ninja-know how to win this game. The aim of the game is to snatch 6 of the Clawfuku stones to be victorious.

It’s essentially a tile snatching game. You roll the dice and as soon as you spot the dice patterns on a single tile, the quickest Cobra paw keeps that tile. The first to snatch 6 tiles, wins.

That is Cobra Paw in a nutshell! However, legends say that a wondering Ninja, Master Meow entered Phee Lion’s temple to challenge him to a game of Clawfuku. The loser of the contest would be cast into exile, forever. It was Master Meow’s perfected technique of the ‘Cobra Paw’ that resulted in Phee Lion’s defeat.

Not a single person came close to ever defeating Master meow and still to this day, Cobra Paw tournaments are held in his honour. It is believed, however, that if one is found to master the Cobra Paw technique, then Master Meow will rise again…

Do you think you have what it takes?

Both of these games are loads of fun to play – they are proper fast-paced games that take a keen eye and you can be guaranteed a lot of laughs when playing either. They are both, currently, the most played games in our house, right now.

Disclosure: Both of these games were kindly sent to us for an honest review. All thoughts, photos & opinions are my own
