Christmas Activities to help boost Scissor Skills for Children
I have been creating free printable’s for preschool-aged children since my youngest daughter was in nursery. And mainly because she had her own battles to overcome. Such as speech delay and being diagnosed with a severe tongue-tie one month before she turned three. You can read all about our speech delay journey on the following posts:

And ever since those battles were fought over many years, I did start to create free printables. Not just for my daughter for other peoples children too because if they were going through the same as we were, then they would have been thinking the same as me. Will the speech delay affect my child’s academic progress? And yes, 100% that worried me sick. So, I started creating educational printables, for her age group {starting at 4yrs} to help fill the gaps that her speech delay made.
Skills such as fine motor development activities, learning our shapes, colours, numbers, letters and more. Creating printable activities to encourage scissor skills which in turn help to strengthen your penmanship skills and so on. Little things you never thought encouraged particular child developments, actually make such a big difference. Now, I am not a teacher, therapist, nothing. I am just a Mum who found ways to help her daughter in any way she could through her speech delay journey. And hopefully, find a way to help her perfect everything in each milestone she needed to be at until her words decided to join the party.
Christmas Activities to help boost your scissor skills!
Cutting with scissors. Did you know, as a parent that a child simply cutting up pieces of paper, following patterns strengthens their little hands and finger muscles? And in turn, those strong hand and finger muscles go towards your child’s penmanship skills? It’s amazing, isn’t it! Something so simple goes towards the development of another determinantal skill. Things like this never fail to blow my mind.
So, throughout this post, you will find a selection of Christmas activities to help boost your child’s scissor skills. The size, shape and safety aspects of age-appropriate scissors make all the difference.
