Candy Crush Rainbow cake Baking kit {Review}

The kids and I love an afternoon of baking. So when Prezzybox kindly sent us this Candy crushed Rainbow cake baking kit to whip up, you can bet we were excited. It is based on the game Candy crush – you either love that game or hate it. Or you love it up until you get to that one level that you just cannot complete no matter how many times you try. The story of my life! However, the frustrating game that is candy crush aside….this rainbow cake baking kit would be a fun bake!

This kit has everything you need;

  • 4 x coloured cake mix
  • bag of icing sugar
  • 4 x cake tins
  • 4 x pieces of baking parchment
  • 4 x cake dowels
  • 1 x cake board
  • Sprinkles
  • Jelly beans
  • Recipe card
  • Cake toppers

Everything comes like any other cake mix box, with everything prepared which makes things so much easier – especially when you have a four-year-old whose desperate to bake a cake. So, for me personally? These baking kits are an absolute godsend.

The instructions are super easy to follow, and the extra ingredients required is a little butter, a smidge of milk & a few eggs.

Preparing each cake mix was so easy to do and it took us around 20 mins because we had to wash out our bowl to mix the next colour and I had a four-year-old working alongside me and adamant that she was the ‘egg cracker’. So it took us around 5 mins to prepare each cake batter, ready to pop into the oven.

The cake layers are red, orange, yellow and green and I’ve never seen cake batter turn such a vibrant colour before – so we were very excited to see how it would look once it was baked.

Each layer took around 15-20mins to bake and you know yourself, once that cake skewer comes out clear, you good to take out your cake and to allow it to cool down completely. That was the part when my daughter started to lose her mind. She just wanted to decorate and taste the cake RIGHT AWAY – but I managed to distract her with asking her to help me whip up our buttercream frosting to cover the cake with.

It took about 45 mins for all of the layers to be nice & cool which meant we could start to assemble our cake & get it decorated. This part was lots of fun and there was the perfect amount of buttercream frosting too.

Want to see how it looks?

Prepare yourself, it looks pretty awesome!

The red layer does look more purple than anything else {the cake batter was red!} but who cares, how vibrant & pretty does our layer cake look! And to think it was done from a baking kit.

This Candy Crush Rainbow baking kit RRP £14.99 and we’re giving it a massive thumbs up! It was easy to make, it looks amazing and it tastes even better!
