A little April catch-up!

A little April catch-up!

Wow, I didn’t realise how long it had actually been since I last put together a catch-up post. Which is a real shame because so much has been going on and I have lots to tell you about. First of all, Hello! I hope you guys are well! Secondly, how is it April already? I swear, I say this at the start of every new month, but I cannot believe how fast 2019 is going.

Anyways…

Where do I even start! I guess the most exciting thing that has happened recently is that I got a new job. Which is very exciting. I have been a stay-at-home-Mum for a decade now and it’s time for me to get back out into the working world and even though it’s only 16hrs per week – it’s something for me. I’ll actually be going out-out to see actual people who can eat in peace and even talk to each other without being poked for attention. It’s magical thought, isn’t it? Being able to actually have a conversation with someone without being yelled for to make a sandwich, or break up a squabble!

Aside from the new job, we’ve been having a good old fashioned Spring clearout. I took on the 40 bags in 40-days challenge – did you see that one? I’ll be honest though, I got to ten bags and my steam ran out. But I’m sure I’ll pick it up again as the difference in ten bags of clutter no longer being in my house was pretty amazing. I’m thinking in the summer I’ll buy a skip to tackle the attic because…well… let’s not talk about the roof space just yet! That’s a scary topic and a BIG job.

Let’s just say, my attic ‘clutter’ is impressive. There are things up there from previous tenants including Wheelchairs {of all things!}. There are multiple seasonal boxes because I just cannot help myself and I even think the kids baby boxes are up there too. Not leaving out tents, camping equipment, things we no longer want downstairs and so much more. Can you relate? I’m sure you can!

So, scary clutter-fueled roof spaces aside, we have also turned a few corners with the kids. Mainly my two younger ones. Jacob has always had a touch of Maths anxiety – which, I’ll not lie, has been pretty tough. He’s such an emotional little guy and all I’m saying is thank goodness for my Husband because he has been amazing. That and he’s doing University Degree Maths for his Computer Programming degree, so that has been a lifesaver, too!

Jacob is currently in P6, which means one thing – AQE time. On the mainland, I think you guys refer to them as SATS? Anyway, Jacob was going to do it but has since changed his mind. Although, I’ve still signed him up for the extra AQE work they get in school and to do at home because he needs it. And when did a little educational kick up the backside do anyone any harm! Plus side? He is thriving because of the extra work, which is helping him focus more and concentrate a little harder. Another bonus? His Maths abilities have improved massively and it turns out he actually enjoys the topic – who knew!

Lastly…a little update on Annabelle. I recently wrote a post {and shared it here on the blog} about our speech delay journey coming to an end. That’s amazing in itself and something I thought I would never see. And to know how smart she is regardless of her delayed speech journey just makes me so, so proud.

So, I think that’s it. I think we’re all caught up. We haven’t got up to that much because, you know, life! But we’re excited for the Easter holidays in a few weeks and hopefully going on some adventures!

How has life been for you lately? Been up to much?
