A Fun Football Festival with IFA & McDonalds!

Football has a firm place in the hearts of my two younger children. Jacob has a shelf in his bedroom covered with trophies and more medals than I can count. Annabelle recently started a Football after school activity and could not love it more. She is even starting to bring home regular star of the week certificates. So, do I have two little football stars on my hands? Who knows! But they love it and it’s a fun sport for them to enjoy – so I’m happy. 

Last weekend we were kindly invited along to Windsor Park Football Stadium for a Fun Football Festival. This event was hosted by the Irish Football Association & McDonalds – I’ve worked with McDonald’s before, so it was nice to be invited along to enjoy this event with my family. 

Having never been to Windsor Park before, or a Fun Football Festival, I had no idea what to expect. All I kept hoping for was half decent weather! Luckily, we got just that!

So, we collected our special VIP wristbands and off into the National Stadium we went. 

My two youngest are the football fans in the family and they were just in awe when they walked out onto the pitch. There were inflatable obstacles everywhere and they were excited to get started. We collected our sheet, that we needed to get stamped after completing each obstacle. 

The first one we went too was the kids had to play a little 5 a-side match together. Annabelle and Jacob are both fans of being in nets, so that’s where they took their place. They both played so well and the sunshine always helps with days out like this, doesn’t it? 

There was a recycling section on the pitch for the kids to get included with. I thought this was a brilliant addition to the day’s events and it’s never a bad thing to teach the little ones more about recycling!

The aim was the kids had to kick their balls over to either a regular bin or a recycling bin, depending on what item the crew member was holding up. 

The knee slide event was a firm favourite, especially with Annabelle! And what we didn’t realise was that the ball at the end of the sliding mat was actually a slow-motion camera.

So we were kindly emailed the kids videos over after they had their turn. They are over on my Instagram if you’d like a look. 

We had an absolutely fab afternoon at the National Football Stadium in Belfast. We got to do something pretty cool together and the kids had the best time. The highlight for me was having access to the George Best Lounge, which was pretty special.

After earning all of their stamps, the kids earned themselves a football, too! So they’re pretty excited to get those through the post!
