30 Easter activities to do with the kids!

30 Easter activities to do with the kids!

Easter isn’t that far away – have you seen the Easter eggs in the supermarkets yet? They’re everywhere! And have been since the New Year which is insane. But I’m also thankful for the creme eggs available in an abundance at my local store. Anyways, Easter is such a fun time of the year because the days are a little longer {for starters!}. We may even be lucky and get some nice sunshine-fueled days! Asking too much? Perhaps! But a woman can hope. And if youโ€™ve got older kids at home, this season is also a great excuse to bring everyone together with some funย board games for teensย that keep them engaged, laughing, and happily off their screens.ย

This is my reason for this post – I figured – like me – you’d appreciate a little list still post to inspire you with many ways to keep the kids entertained this Easter.ย

Easter

I have even made my list of things to do with the kids this Easter as a cute printable for you to print out & stick on your fridge. Think of it as some sort of Easter activity bucket list, if you will.ย

30 Easter activities to do with the kids!

First things first…

Throw an Easter egg hunt!

Buy yourself some plastic fillable eggs from your local Poundland, fill with fun Easter activity coupons, or sweets, or jokes – whatever you like! An Easter egg hunt is always good fun to do with the kids. This has to be one of the best kind of Easter activities you can do – so many different ways to do it and all as fun as the next!ย

Make Easter Cookies

Baking is something we do a lot over Easter. I don’t know why! Maybe something with Spring being in the air, but it makes us bake more. So get the mixer out, put the aprons on and bake, bake, bake! You can try my recipe for Breakfast bunnies {bread rolls} or even try some simple and cute bunny shortbread cookies. You can check out my Easter Pinterest board for more inspiration.ย

Play Bunny, Bunny, RABBIT

This is a cute twist on the classic game Duck, Duck, Goose {like you hadn’t guessed!} and maybe to make it more fun, the Bunny can wear ears when it’s their turn.ย

Visit a Petting Zoo

Girl holding a lamb

Here in Belfast, I don’t know about where you live – but here Petting zoos are a hit around Easter time. Some are free, some are not and that’s OK. My teenager loves a petting zoo, so this is up there with her top Easter activities to do.ย

Watch some Easter movies

Perfect for those rainy days, right? I am all for a sprinkle of lazy Easter activities! So grab yourself a bowl of popcorn, a cosy blanket and watch some fun movies such as; Peter Rabbit, Hop and even though this one isn’t about Easter {but is amazing!} Rise of the Guardians!ย

Visit your local zoo

This is something I always did as a child and is now something I do with my own kids.

Belfast Zoo

It’s a lovely day out, especially if you get a lovely Spring afternoon and even take a picnic! We adore our local zoo and it is somewhere you could easily spend the day! Definitely a firm favourite on the Easter activities list!ย

Take yourselves off on a Spring scavenger hunt

This is a fun idea and something I enjoy doing with my youngest especially. Just search for a Spring scavenger hunt printable online – Pinterest has loads! Print and off you go!ย

Fly a kite!

You do need a windy day for this but if you have it, get that kite up into the air. We love flying our kites and there is just something really relaxing about it.

Downhill Demesne - National Trust NI

Flying them on a beach is generally a good idea – all of that extra wind coming off the ocean – yes, please!ย

Go for a walk in the woods

This is another activity my kids and I love to do. We put on our wellies or are walking boots, feel out reusable bottles with water, grab some snacks and off we go.

Bishops Gate play park

We’re lucky enough to have some lovely woodlands to walk around near where we live, too.ย

Skim stones

This idea goes hand in hand with going for a walk in the woods. If, like our local woodlands have streams or rivers, gather up some skimming stones and have a blast. My youngest loves making a splash more than a skim, but it’s heaps of fun all the same.

Play poo-sticks

Let’s face it, this is the strangest name for a game, ever! But admittedly, it’s lots of fun! All you need is a river, a bridge, some sticks {of different shapes or sizes – to know whose stick is whose} and let them go! The stick to cross the bridge line first, wins – super simple and lots of fun!ย

Bake an Easter cake

A really nice activity to do with the kids, or let them do on their own {with supervision, obviously!}.

Easter cake

Give them the ingredients, the recipe card, all of the decorations and let them go wild!ย

Have an Easter bake-off!

Let the kids decorate their own Easter themed cupcakes and get yourself some medals from Poundland to present to the winner.

However, let’s be honest, the real winner is YOU as you enjoy their spoils over a cup of tea {or two!}.ย

Decorate an Easter tree

This is something we only started doing a few years ago ourselves – who even knew an Easter tree was a thing! Anyways, turns out they are super cute and fun to make. Of course, nowadays you can buy Easter trees that are all pretty and white. But our first one was just broken branches we had found during a walk in the woods.

We decorated it with some copper wired lights {love those} and some hanging eggs that we bought from our local Pound store. Super simple and lots lovely on your dining or coffee table.

Go egg rolling!

A childhood pastime for me, this activity and one I now do with my gang every Easter.ย  My Parents used to do this with us at our local zoo – I’m not fully sure why, but that’s where it all started. We’d decorate our eggs, roll them and if it broke, you did another one. If it didn’t, you roll it until it does. It’s more fun than you think! We now go egg rolling at the Ulster Folk and Transport Museum in Cultra and the kids love it.ย

Have an Egg & Spoon race

Again, all of this little bits and pieces are available in your local pound stores of Home Bargains and they’re super cheap. All we can hope for is some decent weather for some races in the garden, right? Maybe even have a prize for the winner!

Bunny Nose Craft

You can bring out the craft box and let your kids make themselves some Bunny Nose Masks – a cute craft I found over on Pinterest!ย

Potato Easter egg stamps!

Grab yourself some potatoes, cut some patterns into them {strips, zigzags etc}, dip them in paint and let them go wild! A really simple craft and perfect for a rainy day or one to do in the garden if the weather’s nice!ย

Paint and hide rocks

Painting and hiding rocks is the latest fad, right? We love it and have painted and hidden so many rocks over the last few summers. It’s a guaranteed activity the kids will enjoy – so why not paint some Easter-themed rocks such as chicks, easter eggs, bunnies etc.

Rock painting

Then go for a walk in the park or along the beach and hide them as you go! One of our top Easter activities as a family!

Have a game of bunny tag!

Basically chases! But Easter themed – so the person doing the chasing can wear bunny ears or a fluffy bunny tail! Then, whoever they catch first has to now be the bunny and wear the ears {or the tail!}.ย

Do an Easter Wordsearch

Go forth to Pinterest, search for Easter word searches and print off your favourite! Los to choose from and if your child or children are anything like mine? They’ll love a Word search!ย

Colour by Numbers

Who doesn’t love colouring by number pages! I know my lot do! Even myself on occasion {when I’m in the mood!}. But there are lots of Easter colour by number pages over on Pinterest {where else!}. So go forth, print and enjoy! Maybe even have a colouring-in competition! Why stop at colours, get the glitter and craft bits out!ย

Easter ‘I Spy’ printable

This is a cute activity to do and something my youngest quite enjoys. There are loads of Easter ‘I Spy’ worksheets online {especially on Pinterest}.ย

Make some Easter salt dough ornaments

This is a lovely craft to do and better still? You can hang up your Easter salt dough creations on your Easter tree! I love a good keepsake, don’t you?ย

Create your own ‘Easter egg Smash’ art

We actually did this a few Easters ago and the kids really, really enjoyed it. It does get messy though – but the result is a keeper, for sure. Get yourself a large canvas, get a few dozen eggs {one box per child}. Make something with the eggs, whether it is pancakes, scrambled eggs for breakfast, bake a cake or three – just so the eggs don’t go to waste!

Eggs filled with paint

Empty the eggs from cracking the top. Empty and wash out, once it is dry then you can fill it with paint. Do this with each egg, and your egg smash palettes are ready! Now to prep the canvas area! We just hung a dust sheet against our shed wall and along the ground beneath the canvas and then let the kids go wild. They threw the eggs filled with paint at the canvas creating the most amazing colours and designs.ย

The result, as I said, is a keeper! I may even have to do another one this year – the kids absolutely loved it. Maybe even make a few and give them as gifts to the family!ย

Make your own Sock Bunny!

If your house is anything like ours, then you’ll have an array of odd socks {I swear the washing machine eats them!}.ย So grab a few, and follow this cute no-sew sock bunny tutorial I found on Pinterest for you!ย

Have a Glow in the Dark egg hunt

Something a little different and a little more fun, I think! Just get yourself some glowsticks, some plastic eggs, a few surprises and off you go! The kids will love this twist on the classic easter egg hunt, don’t you think?ย

Make watercress heads!

Have scrambled eggs for breakfast again? Wonderful, only take the tops of the eggs! Wash them out {standard} and let them dry! Buy some cotton wool balls from your local chemist and watercress seeds from your local garden store and voila! Watercress heads are a go! This is one of my kid’s favourite Easter activities!

Spring crafts for kids

Seriously easy to grow {even I can do it and I am a well-known planter murderer – not intentionally of course!}.ย

But this is a cute activity and the kids can even ‘trim’ their watercress heads’ hair and add it to their salads or sandwiches.ย

Make your own Easter play-doh

Homemade play-doh is super easy to make and you can even get the kids to help! Make it all kinds of pretty Easter-related colours, like pastel blue, pink, purple! You could even add a dish of feathers, eggs, googly eyes and just like the kids unleash their creativity!ย

Have an egg rolling race

Now, this activity doesn’t need a hill to roll your egg down – it just needs your kids and you {yes, you can get involved too!} and you roll the egg along a track – with your face! A hilarious game, fun for all the family and the winner can be hailed egg rolling race champion!

So there you go, 30 things to do with the kids this Easter! Lots of cute craft ideas, baking inspiration and just all-around fun with the family. That’s what it’s all about, right? I hope this list of fun Easter activities gives you some inspiration – it did for me!ย

Anyways, I hope whatever you get up to this Easter that it is a fun one!! ย

PIN IT FOR LATER!
