Ways To Keep Your Children Busy During The Summer Holidays

The summer holidays are approaching which means your children will be off school and needing fun things to keep them occupied. We have gathered some great ways to keep your children busy and bored-free this summer.
Ways to keep the kids busy over the summer holidays!
Cook Up A Storm In The Kitchen
Cooking is a great skill to have and can also be a fun bonding experience for you and your little ones. Make a plan for once a week to cook a meal or bake together, let them help choose the recipes and if they are at the reading level get them to read from the recipes book. This way they can work on their cooking and reading skills at the same time.

Enjoy All Nature Has To Offer
Getting out into nature is a great way for your child to run off some of their energy. Making your outdoor experiences fun by creating games such as a checksheet of bugs, animals and plants they can look for on their walk.

This way they can have fun and learn about nature at the same time. Try to get outside at least once a day whether that be in the garden, down the park, on a bike ride, or on a nature walk.
Get Creative And Crafty during the summer holidays!

Children have wonderful imaginations, get them to express their creativity by doing some art and craft activities. Creativity is subjective and can be expressed in so many different forms, you could go wild with paint or maybe create your own bird feeder together, the possibilities are endless.
Technology Is A Wonderful Thing
Although we try not to give our children too much screen time sometimes it could be a lifesaver. If you need some time to do some work or fold the laundry then giving your child a tablet or phone to play with for half an hour can be great. Download some child-friendly apps from the Appstore, Playphone, GooglePlay.
Enrol them In Clubs over the summer holidays
Enrolling your children in some summer school clubs can allow them to develop social skills and have fun at the same time. There are so many different types of clubs whether that be sports, acting, social or dance, etc.
Volunteer Together
We all want our children to be kind and caring towards others, the best way to teach them this is to show them yourselves. Organize a day a week to do some good for the less fortunate, this could be in the form of donating food to food banks, sewing blankets, donating old toys, pick up plastic on your local beaches and parks or taking shelter dogs for a walk. Learning to be compassionate and the value of helping people at such a young age can shape your child into becoming a kind adult.

We think that all these suggestions are great tips to keep your child busy this summer. If your little one has a birthday coming up then take a look at our tips on Planning a Unicorn Rainbow party, we are sure they will love it.
