An afternoon at Craigavon Lakes

Northern Ireland is a beautiful, beautiful country. And the majority of it still remains a mystery to me. Craigavon was a place in particular that I had never been to before and we excited to visit. We were actually there to have a little shop around Rushmere Shopping centre ahead of National Children’s Day and if not for the bus driver telling us about Craigavon Lakes, then well, we would have missed a treat.

Where you get off the bus at Rushmere Shopping Centre, you can walk across a flyover bridge. That leads you straight down to Craigavon Lakes and it really is just the most beautiful place. It was pretty perfect truth be told.

Now, we were told that you could walk around the lake in about 30 minutes. But sadly we didn’t have the time to do that on this particular day {as we were just visiting before our bus home was due – but it’s certainly something to go back for!}.

But this is certainly something we plan to do over the summer. And it is also great knowing that anything we need can be picked up at Rushmere Shopping centre before our lake adventure. 

It’s honestly like you were transported away from the busy highways. And people shopping and everything in between. It is such a beautiful and tranquil place. It wasn’t long before we got comfortable, opened up some games we had bought and enjoyed some fun in the sun.

There is also a local Watersports centre on the lake nearby. Which I must add to our Summer bucket list! My eldest girl loves to canoe – so I will be looking into that. I will also be adding some of their activities to our Summer bucket list {which I will share very soon!}.
