Top Reasons to Take the Kids to London

When most people think of a holiday with their children, they don’t think of taking them to one of the best-known capital cities in the world, London. The reason for that is because London is known to be overcrowded and busy and loud, and the last thing you want to do with your children is worry about getting them lost in a crowd, right?

Well, visiting London is not quite the same as that. If you’re going to visit any capital city for the first time and get your kids exposed to the cultures of the world, then London is one of the best places you could take them. Not only could you put your luggage for the day into Paddington luggage storage, but you can take it from Paddington Station to any number of destinations in the city to enjoy it. If you are looking for some reasons to take your children to London for a holiday then we’ve put together a list of them below. 

• For kids, it’s not massively expensive. Everybody who’s been to London knows that London can be pricey, but when you think about bringing children with you, you’re going to have a nice surprise. Accommodation is always going to be a pricey option, especially if you’re going to be in the city, but there are so many different markets and three days out for the kids that you could save money. The parks, the playgrounds, most museums, and attractions are free for children. That means you won’t have to pay for tickets for everything that you want to see.
• It’s great for exploring. It doesn’t matter the age of the children, they are all going to get something out of exploring. The little ones will love the parks, the palaces, and the zoo, and the older ones will still love the palaces and the zoo. And they probably would still have the parks, too. Going to Hyde Park or Saint James’s Park is exciting, no matter how old they are, and that means that you’re going to get a chance to explore so many different places in London without having to bend everything to suit age groups.

• The food. England is known for its food, but London itself is known for some of the best restaurants in the world. It’s incredibly diverse when it comes to its food offerings, So while British food may not be your favorite, there are still so many options that you can choose from that aren’t necessarily British. This means you can encompass that whole multicultural vibe simply by looking at the food choices.
• Public transport is not hard. One of the best things to know about London is that if you’re in the city, you can’t get lost. Everywhere you go there’s going to be a bus stop or a tube station, which means that you can hop on and off the underground whenever you need to. You can’t possibly get lost when there are so many options for getting to your destination without having to pay for a taxi.
• There are so many activities that are tailored to kids. Did you know that the London National Gallery offers multiple self-guided kids tours on their website? There are also museums such as the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Science Museum, and the Natural History Museum that have exhibits specifically guided towards children to help them learn about their history or the science of the world.

• Visiting the site of books or movies. If you take yourself a little outside of London to Watford, you can visit the studios where Harry Potter was filmed. There is a whole museum exhibit here of the Harry Potter homeland and you’ll be able to take your kids right in the center of it. At Kings Cross Station, they can even visit platform 9 3/4 and the shop dedicated to all things Harry Potter. Visiting the sites of books and movies, and knowing where Roald Dahl has written his books and Mary Poppins has flown off on the carousel is exciting for children, especially if they are into any of those stories.

• The chance to be outdoors. You wouldn’t think you’d get much outdoor time in a city as big as London, but the parks and the royal gardens in London are spectacular. You can cross the Millennium Bridge and imagine you’re in one of the Harry Potter movies, and you can take yourself to Hyde Park with acres of space for picnics, boat rides, and feeding the geese. Kew Gardens are beautiful and peaceful, and the list really is never-ending when it comes to the green spaces of London.
