Throw your own Gingerbread House Decorating Party this Christmas!

Throw your own Gingerbread House Decorating Party this Christmas!

Christmas is such an exciting time of the year, for so many reasons. And I love trying to find new and fun activities for myself and my gang to have fun with. For Halloween the year before last, we threw our own Pumpkin Carving Party which was such good fun. And for Christmas, I thought, why not do something similar but just Christmas related {obviously!}. Thus stems the idea to throw a Gingerbread House Decorating Party. And I honestly could not think of anything more fun!

This can easily be turned into a kids party by day and an adult party by night, as that is how I would totally do it. Can you imagine decorating a Gingerbread house after a few cocktails? I can hear the uncontrollable laughter already! But it is also a really fun activity to do with the family too, maybe even offer a prize to the winner. Getting the Grandparents to vote for the winner! Whatever or however you wish to do it, it is a sure-fire way to have a fun afternoon with friends and family.

The main thing you will need is, can you guess? That’s right, Gingerbread houses! Now, you can just buy the already made Gingerbread house pieces from shops such as Home Bargains and B&M. Or, you can buy your own moulds and make your own Gingerbread House parts. There is also a third option and this is based on not everyone being a fan of gingerbread cookies! Buy a Gingerbread house mould and make the Gingerbread house out of chocolate and decorate from there.

I love the idea of a chocolate ‘Gingerbread house’ because not all kids like gingerbread! But whatever you decide, this will be a load of fun to do with the kids. Or why stop at the kids! Get the whole family involved!

So that leads me to the first thing you’ll need to do….send out invites!

What you’ll need:

Aside from the premade Gingerbread houses or the make and bake your own option, you will need a few other things for your gingerbread house decorating party! All of these are optional and dietary requirements should be considered and with that in mind, each person should bring their own decorating ingredients. Naturally, the sweets of this fun Gingerbread house decorating party are optional and you can choose whatever you wish. However, these are the sweets we would love to include!

  • Piping bag
  • Royal Icing
  • Food colours of your choice to make a selection of coloured icing
  • Jelly tots
  • Smarties
  • Peppermint candies
  • Candy canes
  • Strawberry laces
  • Mini Gingerbread men

From these with your invites sent and everything you need to throw a really fun Gingerbread House decorating party this season, your good to go! I think this is such a sweetheart idea to do for the family this December.

And I love finding new traditions to start and I think my bunch will have a really lovely time with this one. So I am excited about it.
