Summer exams & planning a party {Ordinary moments}

This last week has been insanely busy. For starters, Ellie started her summer exams. She has been studying hard – some mornings it’s even been me quizzing her repeatedly! The joys of exam time, I suppose. But over this last week, she has done very well and she’s done the best she could.
It will be a few weeks yet before she gets her results, but I know she will have done well. Ellie is a smart girl, even if she doesn’t fully believe that she is. The results of these also determine if she gets into a few of her final GCSE choices, too. So, there are big things riding on these exam results.

In other news, it is also Ellie’s fourteenth birthday this week – which also lands on Fathers Day. Just to make things a little more intense for me. Cheers for that!
It feels like only yesterday that she officially became a teenager and I threw her a pretty awesome Harry Potter birthday party! However, somehow, her casual family lunch out somewhere nice swiftly turned into us throwing her a BBQ party. When this was decided, we didn’t even own a BBQ!
Thankfully, Asda came to the rescue and we bought this pretty cool half drum BBQ – it looks good, doesn’t it? Also, confession? I’ve never cooked on a BBQ in my life. I’ve done a little bit of campfire cooking, but I don’t think it’s the same thing. So if anyone has any pointers – leave me a comment below! I would really appreciate any pointers!

So aside from buying BBQ’s we have been gathering in everything we need for her BBQ party. Such as buying the BBQ {which would be useful!} and all the bits you need with it. We went a little mad on the condiment side of things {needs must!}.
Chairs are getting brought down from the loft, as well as the gazebo later this week. Then there are the decorations to consider. So, yeah, it’s all systems go!

This very same week, it’s also my birthday! I will be levelling up in the age department – Level 39 here I come!
It’s going to be one hell of a weekend! From birthday celebrations galore, an abundance of cake and goodness knows what else! It will be a nice way to shake off those summer exam vibes, my levelling up as well as celebrate my Husband finishing his final University assignment too!
Now I just need to decide what cake I will be making for my daughter and finalise my food shop for the BBQ!
How’s your week looking?

I really hope Ellie’s exams are going well. I really love how into parties you get – for me, party planning is buying presents, getting BBQ food and crossing my fingers for good weather! Have a great time! x
Thank you – thankfully all over for now. I do love organising a party and always go overboard 110%! I can’t help myself. Thanks! x
What a busy time. I can’t believe Ellie is 14. We are almost finished school year here, I think you guys are similar. Hope the exams go well xx #ordinarymoments
Insanely busy and I know, right? I can hardly believe it myself! Yes, we’re the same as you guys and the kids finish next Friday! The 28th of June cannot come quick enough!
