Kites & Castles – Our first Kite Festival with National Trust NI

This summer has whizzed by, so much so that I feel as though we haven’t done as much as I had hoped – by this stage in the school summer holidays, anyway. But during a google search of fun days out with the family, I came across a Kite Festival with the National Trust. Perfect! And to make it even better, it is held at Downhill Demesne and Hezlett House, which is in our favourite place, Castlerock.  What did surprise me though, is that this year, 2018, will be the 8th year the Kite festival will be put on. It’s…

Spending the day at the Animal Farm Adventure Park in Somerset

During our recent family holiday to Somerset, we were given the opportunity to revisit the amazing Animal Farm Adventure Park in Berrow. It was a super hot day, but we were stocked up with sun cream, bottles of water and the kids couldn’t wait to explore. Being non-drivers, we took the bus which took us around 40mins to get too, however, if you’re in a car? It will take you about 15mins. The bus we got was available from our Haven holiday village in Burnham on Sea, but it goes along the promenade in Burnham and along the usual bus…

Family holidays at Haven, Burnham-on-sea

I can’t imagine a caravan is everyone’s cup of tea when it comes to your family holiday. But I have always loved them. Ever since I was little and my Granda owned his own, in Castlerock – so staying in a caravan has always held a certain amount of excitement for me.  Over the years, every family holiday we have ever gone on has been a caravan holiday. I sense a theme! We are drawn to them for a multitude of reasons. We love the self-catering holiday vibe, the range of facilities that are available on site, as well as fun…

Haven Activity Passes | Review

During our recent stay at the Haven Holiday village in Burnham-on-sea, we collaborated with Haven to review some of their prepaid activity passes. We have been on a few Haven holidays, but the activities were never really an option for us before because we either spent too much time outside of the holiday village. Or one or more of the children were too young to get involved – so we decided if they all couldn’t do them, then none of them would. However, during this recent Haven holiday, they could all get in on the action. The first activity we…

Win a Luxury camping holiday with Yelloh! Village!

Since the school summer holidays started I have seen so many people go on camping trips. Whether it’s a spot of luxury camping, a caravan holiday or just plain good old tent-style camping. I love camping and even though it’s something I have yet to do with my own children, it’s also something I never thought of doing in another country. Yelloh Village offers an amazing range of campaign destinations in France, Portugal & Spain. Can you imagine roasting marshmallows by a firepit, watching the sunset over Albufeira in Southern Algarve? I can!   Camping has evolved massively since I was younger.…

10 things to pack for a day at the beach

The kids break off school this week {so excited!} for their summer holidays and I am thrilled. Over the last few weeks, you could see them getting more and more tired. So they’re as ready for the summer as I am. Anything for a break from packing those lunchboxes every morning and trying to get them into school before the bell! We are now looking forward to slow mornings, picnics at the park and if the weather is kind, days out at the beach.  We absolutely love the beach and Northern Ireland has some stunning coastal beaches; so there are…

Sea walking in the Mediterranean with Under sea Adventures

If you follow me on social media, you may have noticed that I was in Cyprus last week {I’m not even sorry for the holiday spam!} and what a week we had! We arrived quite late on Wednesday evening and even though it had been a long day travelling, we had to be up bright and early the next morning for a spot of sea walking with the guys at UnderSea Adventures.  The skies could not have been bluer for our first full day in Cyprus and better still? One of the co-owners of Undersea adventures very kindly came to…

A week in paradise | Clickstay Villa review | Ayia Napa, Cyprus

In October last year, I had one of those emails fall into my inbox, with the subject heading, “Press trip”. The two simple words that would get any blogger/vlogger excited, because, being invited on a press trip is a huge deal in the blogging world. Or, I happen to think so, anyway! I was being invited to stay in Villa Nishita for a whole week, in Cyprus – with Clickstay. It was the sort of email that you had to re-read a dozen times and still didn’t think it was true.  After realising the email was not a joke, I…
