Attending the Launch Day for the New Skate 100 Park at V36

I have lived in Newtownabbey for most of my life. I have seen parks come and go over the years. And other parks be upgraded to evolve with the times, which can be expected. But most of the local area has stayed the same. Almost like it was in stasis over the past few decades. Which is why it is now so exciting to have the brand new Urban Skate 100 Park in our local area.
We were kindly invited along to the launch event for Skate 100 park, with the Antrim & Newtownabbey Borough Council. The brand new £750,000 investment with a 14,000 sq ft. facility is suitable for Skateboards, Parkour, Inline skaters, scooters and BMX freestylers. This brand new and very exciting Skate Park, has been branded as one of largest skate parks in UK & Ireland!

Skate 100 at V36
We arrived via the Church Road entrance, to the V36 and the new Skate 100 park was right there. Such an amazing site to see and a really cool space. It was also awesome to see it so active with skateboarders, BMX bikers, Inline skaters and more.
My daughter, Annabelle, would not wait to get onto the skate park. But first she had to wait until after all of the demonstrations and of course, the official opening of the Skate 100 Park by the local Mayor.
Check out these photos…

The space that has been worked on by an amazing bunch of people. And it speaks volumes! As an older generation alternative myself, this space is going to be so loved and used so much in the coming years.
And quite frankly, I think that is incredible. It really is an invaluable space to create in our local town. But enough of me getting sentimental, check out some of the talent that was there during the Skate 100 Park Launch Day!

Being able to get into the thick of the day, from the demonstrations of skill from the skateboarders, BMX freestylers, Parkour and more was pretty special. Not to mention having a nosy around all of the stalls and food vans. And then the best part according to Annabelle, being able to have a skateboarding lesson by the Thunder Park Ireland team.

Once the Mayor of Newtownabbey gave his speech, the Skate 100 Park was officially open to the public. This also meant, it was time for everyone with a scooter, inline skates, a bike or a skateboard could go in. This was what Annabelle had been waiting to patiently for. She was so, so excited to finally get in there to go on her skateboard.

We had such a fun time at the Skate 100 Park Launch day! So a huge thank you to the Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council for inviting us along. The fact that the sun came out too made the day extra awesome.
If you are in the Belfast or Newtownabbey area, come along and check this place out. It’s super cool, open 24/7 and even has flood lights come in for the night time skateboarders. What more do you even need!
PIN IT FOR LATER!

Looks like a great place for skaters! Love it!
This looks so cool and awesome, I do wish we had a skate park here. I used to hangout in these parks when I was still in the US.
We like to go to these kinds of places too. Luckily, we have a few next to where we live! Glad you had a nice time at the launch.
I love seeing skaters perform those challenging stunts. Haven’t been to a skate park though, I never thought that it would be an interesting place to visit.
