AD – Choosing the right Ring for the special Occasion

Choosing the right ring for a ‘big’ occasion is a time consuming ordeal. As you want to get the piece ‘just right’, right? I get it. I remember sitting with my Husband a few weeks after he proposed {at Christmas!} and proposing to me with my late Grandmothers ring {with my Fathers permission, obviously!}. We sat together one evening to choose the perfect engagement ring. It wasn’t an easy choice, by any means. But it was overall, a fun experience.

A few of you might be thinking “You bought your ring online?” and the simply answer to that is, yes we did. I find there is a lot more choice online than in stores on the high street. Especially when it came to knowing that I didn’t want a ‘traditional’ engagement ring. In the end, after endless scrolling and choices, I choose a beautiful black diamond in a platnimum band, with diamond stones at either side. It’s quite pretty and I am forever getting complimented on it. I just love that it’s not a usual engagement ring.

Traditional or Quirky Ring of choice?

Spoiler alert, even though the proposal was traditional, our wedding was far from! We are a quirky, alternative couple and tradition went out the window. And this same frame of mind was activated when choosing from the wide range of engagement rings. There is no right and wrong when choosing a ring. Just what is the perfect choice for you. Because you’re going to be the one wearing it after all. There are so many beautiful jewellers on the internet. Crafting stunning pieces and they can even be custom made to look exactly how you wish.

The online jeweller Jeulia has the most gorgeous pieces to choose from. And when I tell you I gasped at some of their engagement rings designs, I genuinely gasped! If you are into skulls, the Pumpkin King and even Toothless from How to Train your Dragon. Which, lets be clear, is one of the most underated animations ever made with a soundtrack to die for! They are just the cutest pieces and very, very affordable. I may have a few of my wish lists for future Birthdays & Christmas gift ideas!

Another point is, engagement, promise and even wedding rings do not have to cost the world! I know people who may as well of remorgaged their home to buy their partner their engagement ring. And that is just not my personal vibe and something I think socity need to realise!

Wedding, Engagement & Promise Rings galore!

As a married woman, I have the engagement ring and the wedding ring. But we have never considered promise rings. In all honesty, I was never sure what they symbolised, but now I know, I think they are such a lovely gift idea.

I never realised that a promise ring was also seen as a ‘pre-engagement’ ring to gift the person you love. It’s to signify your commitment to this person and this sweet gesture is a symbol of letting them know that. Isn’t that lovely! But on the other side, Promise rings are gifted after many years of marriage, to let their partner know that they are still as commited to them as much now, as back then. Which is also super, super sweet. It’s the little things guys, right!

I’d love to know your thoughts on the rings above! Leave a comment below. There are some absolutely beautiful pieces and the prices are amazing too, don’t you think?
