A trek with Trespass!

Ever since I was wee I’ve loved a good hike up some hill or mountain. As I grew older I signed up for the local ATC and before I knew it I was up in the mountains a handful of times a year. Whether it be camping, doing my Duke of Ed awards or just rambling for the craic of it. I’ve been in the sunshine, torrential rain and even 80mph winds, and I haven’t regretted a single moment of it and of course wearing suitable footwear was always a must!

Recently Trespass got in touch and asked me to review a pair of their hiking boots and their timing could not have been better. As the very same week they got in touch, I was working on a post that I’ll be sharing soon about our Summer goals and one of those goals included hiking up our local Cave hill.

Cave Hill is around 1200ft above sea level {370 metres} and it’s a basaltic hill overlooking the City of Belfast. It’s known for it’s famous Napoleon’s Nose which is the basaltic outcrop you can see in the photo above & this is the summit of Cave Hill which is also known as McArts Fort.

All of Belfast can be seen from the summit, also the Isle of Man & Scotland on a good, clear day. There’s also three large caves which were considered storage for white foods for the inhabitants of the fort and also a place of refuge in times of attack. So there you go, a little historical insight on this beautiful piece of land {Thanks, Wikipedia!}.

So…history tales aside, a week or so passed and my boots arrived *cue excitement* aren’t they beautiful!! I chose the Ridgeway Women’s Technical Boots.

Being the hiking boot nerd that I am {Ssssh don’t tell anyone!} I immediately tried them on and they felt really good. Supportive, comfortable and durable which is everything you could ever need in a pair walking boots and of course them being both waterproof and breathable were a bonus too.

Now came the day to test them out! I took my daughter for a trek up Cave Hill {I’ll be sharing a post about our adventure on the blog soon!} and I’m going to be honest, the boots impressed me. They gripped fabulously {Thanks to the vibram sole!} as we had a few steep inclines on our climb to the summit, and more to get down during our descent! So I was stoked at how confident I could handle the ground beneath my feet and also not to be gross, but we all know when we hike our feet can sweat….well this boots handle that like a dream! With the cool Tres-Tex technology the boot repels away any unwanted moisture. A huge bonus to having a breathable boot. So my feet felt comfortable the entire time I was out & on my feet.

All in all, these boots rock. Everything about them is comfort in my opinion and comfort is one vital ingredient you need when choosing footwear if you’re a keen trekker. I even put the Vibram soles through their paces by climbing up rocks, sliding down gravel and more. You can tell the soles on these boots are a seriously hard-wearing plus…I think they look super stylish too.

I cannot wait to do more summer trekking with my kids and really put these boots to good use! I wonder where we’ll go for a trek next! These boots RRP at £129.99 and you can check out more from Trespass footwear range over on their Website, Facebook & Twitter pages.

– Thanks so much to Trespass for sending me these boots for the purpose of this review. All thoughts, photos and opinions are entirely my own.

Walk looks beautiful, boots sounds great and very topical (for me) as I’ve just done a load of hiking on the Isle of Skye with a little’un in tow. Great post #mummymonday

I’m in the market for some new boots. Hiking has to be my most favourite leisure activity and my current boots have taken a beating. I’ve heard so much about walking in Northern Ireland, and as yet have never been – I will add it to my list of places to take our daughter as soon as my wife will let me out in the wilderness with her.

I absolutely love walking but have never really hiked properly before well not since some school trips anyways. My 70 year old nan goes weekly with her old ladies hiking group, and she would love these boots. They do love really great – I want some! What a beautiful scenery too, I can only imagine how peaceful and relaxing that must of been to be up there. Well I say relaxing not really when hiking!!! 🙂

thank you for joining in with #mummymonday – love Gemma – host xo
