A trek with Trespass!

Ever since I was wee I’ve loved a good hike up some hill or mountain. As I grew older I signed up for the local ATC and before I knew it I was up in the mountains a handful of times a year. Whether it be camping, doing my Duke of Ed awards or just rambling for the craic of it. I’ve been in the sunshine, torrential rain and even 80mph winds, and I haven’t regretted a single moment of it and of course wearing suitable footwear was always a must! Recently Trespass got in touch and asked me to review a pair of their hiking boots and their timing could not have been better.

As the very same week they got in touch, I was working on a post that I’ll be sharing soon about our Summer goals and one of those goals included hiking up our local Cave hill.

Hiking Cavehill with Trespass

Cave Hill is around 1200ft above sea level {370 metres} and it’s a basaltic hill overlooking the City of Belfast. It’s known for it’s famous Napoleon’s Nose which is the basaltic outcrop you can see in the photo above & this is the summit of Cave Hill which is also known as McArts Fort.

All of Belfast can be seen from the summit, also the Isle of Man & Scotland on a good, clear day. There are also three large caves that were considered storage for white foods for the inhabitants of the fort and also a place of refuge in times of attack. So there you go, a little historical insight on this beautiful piece of land {Thanks, Wikipedia!}.

So…history tales aside, a week or so passed and my boots arrived *cue excitement* aren’t they beautiful!! I chose the Ridgeway Women’s Technical Boots.

Being the hiking boot nerd that I am {Ssssh don’t tell anyone!} I immediately tried them on and they felt really good. Supportive, comfortable and durable which is everything you could ever need in a pair of walking boots and of course them being both waterproof and breathable was a bonus too.

Now came the day to test them out! I took my daughter for a trek up Cave Hill {I’ll be sharing a post about our adventure on the blog soon!} and I’m going to be honest, the boots impressed me. They gripped fabulously {Thanks to the Vibram sole!} as we had a few steep inclines on our climb to the summit.

With the cool Tres-Tex technology, the boot repels away any unwanted moisture. A huge bonus to having a breathable boot. So my feet felt comfortable the entire time I was out & on my feet.

All in all, these boots rock. I even put the Vibram soles through their paces by climbing up rocks, sliding down gravel and more. You can tell the soles on these boots are a seriously hard-wearing plus…I think they look super stylish too.
