Blogger tips: 6 ways to make your About me page shine!

Over the last few weeks I have been tweaking my blog here & there, all for her own good you understand and my next port of call is my ‘about me‘ page. My about me page has been changed and revamped a few times and with a growing family, I feel it’s important to keep it up to date and correct. More importantly, a question I’ve asked myself a hundred times, what even makes the perfect about me page?

There’s no doubt about it that this page is a tough one to put together, but at the end of the day, brands pop over to this page and they want to get to know you and your family to see if you’re a good fit for them and the brand they’re looking to promote. So I did a little thinking and I decided to put together this post on what I think can help make your about me page shine brighter.

1. Intro! This section is a little like speed dating! You need to be able to introduce yourself in a short paragraph to leave people wanting to get to know you more.
Who are you? Where are you from? Do you have children? If so, how many {include ages}. Chat about what you like to do as a family, {adventures, family nights and so on}.

2. Add images! People love photos, so give your audience a glimpse of who you are. You could even give them a taste of what you’re world is like, giving them an idea what they can expect from revisiting your blog.

3. Connect! Give your readers a little insight to what you love. Your passions, hobbies etc. Your quirks, your dislikes because doing this you’re giving people someone they can relate too. In the blogging world, it’s all about meeting new people, reading new blogs and making secure connections.

4. Share links. People are taking the time out to pop over and read your about me page, so give them a reason to stay and to keep reading by adding in a few links. For example, on my about me page, I shared a few links when mentioning amazing brands I’ve been lucky enough to work with, and shared a few of my posts by adding links. You could even just share a few of your favourite posts!

5. BE YOURSELF. I cannot tell you how many times that I’ve started and re-started my about me page because I felt I had to portray myself in a certain light. Basically putting a square peg into a circular hole, it won’t fit and if you force it too it’s just to much hard work. So be yourself and if you do that people will feel your genuine nature and grow to want to know your more.

6. Call to action. This is something that I am learning to do, even at the end of my blog posts. Leaving a call to action is a must have at the end of your about me page. Whether you provide links to your social media platforms, your contact page and always make sure you keep your about me page up to date.

What do you think makes a great About me page?

Great tips Deborah! Your about page looks great.

I think the about page is the most difficult page to put together. I’m not sure why it can be so difficult to talk about yourself. 🙂

I was so happy once I put together an about page I could be proud of. No matter what your niche (even for professionals), I think it’s important to always put something personal on your about page. I think it helps readers better connect with you, which is always important.
