Training for Hogwarts with Harry Potter Wizard Training Wands

In this house, we love Harry Potter. From the oldest i.e. me right down to the youngest. So, when I was offered the chance to review a pair of Harry Potter Wizard Training Wands – you can bet your box of Bertie Botts every flavour jelly beans, that I said yes.

These wands are from Jakks Pacific and we received Hermoine Granger & Harry Potter’s Wizarding Wands. My five-year-old snapped up Hermoine’s {her favourite} quicker than you could say “Alohomora!”. Which meant before the older kids got home from school, I was able to be Harry for an hour – much to my inner geek’s excitement!

These wizarding wands are aimed for young Wizards, aged 8yrs+. House Robes are a must when handling the wands and proper statures must be taken or Professor McGonagall will be on your back. One aspect of these wands that we all loved was how the tip of the wands light up, as well as the buttons along the hilt of the wand, too.

Along with the wand you are supplied with a detailed spell chart containing proper postures to take and different spells to try and learn. There are 11 spells in total to learn – it’s no easy feat and only those who are most dedicated to the Ministry of magic will be successful.

We were very lucky to be sent two wizard wands – to allow some Dual Wizard Battle action to take place, much to the kids {and my} excitement. According to the lovely folk at Norton PR, the trick to being a great Wizard is “that it’s all in the wrist” and do you know something? They’re not wrong! However, judging by the glass shatter sounds & noises of things falling over when I had a go, I think Hermoine herself would be disgusted. Clearly, I need more practice!

The dual aspect to these wands allows each Wizard to learn each of their spells first. Once you have learnt those, then it’s time to see how you are when against a fellow Wizard. Who is the fastest spell caster and who will be the Wizard Champion!

Now, I’m going to be honest – getting the right wrist flick is trickier than I thought it would be. I think if these were actual wands {I’m a dreamer} then I 100% believe I would be Seamus Finnigan – without a shadow of a doubt. I would have singed hair and holes burnt into my clothes.

You can check out my stories over on my Instagram for how the kids got on with their Wizards training and their incantations. I’ll tell you something, they got on far better than I did. In fact, I’d go as far to say they are naturals!

Either way, these wands are loads of fun, super neat to own {for any Potter fan}. They feel super durable, you can do a range of spellcasting/training, including Wizards battle & Wizards tag, so for that, I think these Wizard training wands are well worth the money. They’d make a great gift for any Harry Potter fan!

Disclosure: These were kindly sent out to us for the purpose of this review. All thoughts, photos and opinions are entirely my own. I have also added special effects to some of these photos.
