The Proposal

The darling man and I have been together for just shy of four years now and of course over the last year, marriage has crept into our thoughts and into our conversations. Of course it has. I knew from the first moment I met him that he was going to be growing old beside me and on the early hours of Boxing Day morning he got down on one knee and asked me that life changing question…

“Will you marry me?”

Now he didn’t just get down on one knee after our movie or anything like that, apparently he had a whole scenario planned out however he had one problem. The ring he bought for me hadn’t arrived – as it appears to be stuck in postage hell! But the darling man being my darling man he couldn’t wait any longer and just had to ask me those bittersweet words.
So as a temporary stand-in until my actual ring arrives he decided to ask me with my late Grandmothers engagement ring, which I think has a very sweet gesture & sentiment behind it, which made him asking me with that all more perfect. This ring is the guts of 70yrs old I believe and holds the memories of a long marriage between my Grandparents. Beautifully perfect.

The moments leading up to before the proposal is quite amusing. It was coming up to after midnight & I decided to head up to bed, to which the darling man asked me to stay awake for a few minutes longer as he had a little surprise for me and asked me to do a little research on the PC for a game he was looking into {crafty} up at my blogging station and he’d give me a wee call once he was ready for me. So there I was, knackered and staring at my PC screen when after ten minutes my phone rang…

“Hey cutie” he said…
“Hi!” I replied…
“Look in your bobble hat behind your PC monitor!” he asked…

* How he even got that note there AS I was sitting at my PC station is beyond me!

So I did and I found a little note, well, it was actually a clue. The beginnings of a treasure hunt. He always does little treasure hunts for me over Christmas & my birthday, but my sleepy eyes awakened and I got so excited! So I read my clues, solved them and found the next ones in the chain until I came to the stairs…

My mind whirled with “OMG is this it” nerves and my stomach set free what felt like a million butterflies all at one time. But I ventured down the stairs, following the string & candlelight into the living room. At a
glance I noticed the string lead up to a branch on the Christmas tree but me being me I didn’t click as I was too distracted by a very nervous looking darling man standing next to it.

He quietly, through a very shaky voice {bless him} asked me to look at the string on the tree, and when I looked a fairy light twinkle caught the sparkle of a ring….then I knew for sure this was it {I know, I know…I can be a little dippy!}. I did this look to the ring and an OMG facial expression back to him when he said “This is the moment where you hand me the ring, as I need to ask you something” – HOLY CRAP!

So I did, he got down on one knee, rambled off a few words which if I am honest I cannot remember due to the OH MY GODS going on in my head but I did hear the main part of him asking me to marry him and of course I said yes!!

Now we can both embark on our journey of organizing our special day and I don’t think the darling man quite understands how much is actually involved in putting together a wedding which makes me hope he’ll come around to my idea of something small and sweet for our big day, but I have a feeling he wants a BIG one.

Whatever we decide we’ll be sure to keep you guys up to date every step of the way!!

Omg! How sweet!!! You man is deffo for keeps and I love how he has these little surprises for you at special times.

Mine and hubby’s engagement was done sitting on a sofa on a Friday evening whilst watching the soaps. Nothing romantic no ring nothing down on one knee nothing. It was a kind of “shall we get married?” proposal lol.

    Congratulations x

Oh Congratulations again lovelies! Chris wrote a treasure hunt when he was proposing to me. It started with clue number 1 being on the brick wall outside my Grandma’s house (he literally put it on the wall, drove up the road and then texted me to go out and have a look!) then the next clues were all over the place! Even my friend who worked in the supermarket petrol station had one clue so I had to go there! I ended up with two of my friends coming on the treasure hunt with me (they both knew what the result was going to be but I didn’t!)
