Protecting little eyes during screen time with anti blue-light glasses | Review

Last year, I was online searching for gift ideas for my Husband’s up & coming birthday. He can be a tough guy to buy for, but I recall seeing these PC glasses, which essentially had amber tinted lens. I had never heard much about them if I’m honest but I thought to myself “Perfect” because he is studying to be a computer programmer {he’s mid-degree} and he also works from home on his PC all day. So these anti-blue light glasses would be perfect. It turns out, they were!

For weeks he had been complaining of headaches and sore eyes, and I always put it down to him being in front of a PC screen day & night. I remember advising him to make an appointment with his optician because he could need glasses. Typically he never listened! But within 24hrs of having his anti-blue light glasses, he saw an improvement and felt an improvement too. #wifepoints

Since buying him his own PC glasses they have become more popular. I had a lovely brand reach out to me a few weeks back, asking us to review their children’s anti-blue light glasses. And upon thinking how much screen time my children actually have, I said yes. Between my tween doing school assignments, my youngest’s obsession with Readings Eggs & Mathseeds on the PC and then my Fortnite loving son. Screen time is unavoidable, whether it be for education or fun.

These children’s anti blue glasses are from Bloxx, and they come in a range of sizes dependant on the age of your child and are available in a range of colours too.

Anti-blue light glasses are ones that you’d wear inside, rather than outside. Sunglasses help protect your eyes from the light outside, whereas anti-blue light glasses protect you from artificial light, inside.

Now, we all do it. We can all stare at our phones when we’re meant to be in bed asleep {my older kids can be guilty of this too!}. But this is what is confusing our body clocks, and a reason to why we find it so difficult to sleep. It all gets a little scientific whereas the blue light can be guilty of reducing the production of melatonin – which is basically a little hormone, made by your pineal glade {in the middle of your brain} and it lets your body know when it’s time to sleep.

This is where having anti-blue light glasses comes in handy. My children, as mentioned previously in this post, are either doing school assignments, Reading Eggs or playing games via a PC. Or having some TV time after all of their chores have been done. So screen time is very present in our daily life.

After just one afternoon of wearing their glasses, the children told me how much better their eyes felt. Not a tired eye in sight and now they love wearing their amber tinted glasses whenever they are having screen time of any kind. I have even noticed how much easier they find getting to sleep if they have all enjoyed a movie before bed, too. This is also a great thing because there is nothing worse than an overtired child with an overactive mind! But using these glasses when watching TV has helped massively.

The Bloxx anti-blue light glasses get a big thumbs up from us, and they RRP for around £39.97 and are available on Amazon. Now, it seems I am the only one who doesn’t have a pair of those wondrous things, so I think that is something I’ll have to remedy! Because protecting your eyes wherever and however you can is a good thing – we only get the one pair!

Have you heard of Anti-blue light glasses before? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them.

Wow I’ve never heard of these before – they sound great! Do you know if you can get them with a prescription in ie if your child already wears glasses?

They are really cool. I am not sure if you can get this particular brand in prescription – you could drop the brand an email to ask. And if they don’t, I’m sure there is a brand somewhere that will x

Technology is such a big part of our lives now that we do need to be doing something to protect our eyes. This sound like a great solution.

Yes protecting your eyes should always be a high priority. I wonder if some are most susceptible to the blue light than others, as I seem to sleep fine but my husband not so much so after using the laptop. Mich x

Oh wow, I never even knew anti blue light glasses existed – what a great idea! I could definitely do with some of these considering the number of hours that I spend in front of a screen!

I never knew such a thing existed! I think I’ll keep this in mind for future presents xx

I didn’t know you could get different lens for the different types of light. It makes sense giving how strong artificial light can be at times. Glad it helps their eyes and makes they get to sleep easier as well. Win win I’d say

I’ve seen a lot about anti-blue glasses recently, and they do look like a great idea. I may look into getting a second pair of glasses with anti-blue lenses because I spend so long looking at screens!

I regret not adding the invisible blue tint to my glasses when I bought them as I spend all day staring at my screen. Not sure I would wear them if they were orange coloured though haha!
