My apology to other bloggers

You may think this is a pretty weird title for a post but stay with me. If there has ever been one thing I’ve been guilty of since becoming a blogger, it has been my lack of time to read and comment on other bloggers blogs. I thought starting up my weekly linky #MadMidWeek would help me to pop over to blogs, read and leave comments, but even that has become difficult for me to keep up with. So much so that the #MadMidWeek linky is no more, and to be honest I don’t mind that much. In fact, it’s a bit of a weight off my shoulders. Maybe reducing the pressure a little will allow me time to pop over to more blogs to enjoy & comment on.

At the moment, I feel like such a fool. My stats have been decreasing more and more lately and as depressing as that fact is, it’s no wonder! Why would people bother to pop over to my blog if I’m not putting in the time to return the favour!? I mean, it’s common courtesy, right? So if you’re one of those lovely folk who have taken the time to pop and leave me a comment. They do not go unnoticed. I read them all and so thankful for each one too. But to you especially, I’m sorry I’ve not had made the time to pop over to your blog to read your post and leave a lovely comment.

I suck. I know that.

There are some truly amazing blogs out there, with awesome content that I am missing and I HATE that. I hate so much. From epic photography to inspirational paragraphs filled with hope, love and support. Endless lines are written with limitless passion, love and happiness. All of which I’m missing because I’ve not had the time at this moment or unable to make the time for that moment, or just too tired because life is pretty busy, like, ALL the time.

But I think from this moment on, from this day forth an effort shall be made. I think that’s the best I can do. Set aside a pocket of time each day, it doesn’t have to be a lot, maybe 30 minutes would do and pop over to ask many blogs as I can inside that time frame. Having that mind set and goal is as good a start than any, right?

Are you good at visiting blogs and commenting?

D xx

Its a hit and miss with me. I don’t always return a comment although I’m trying more now 🙂

    • 10/05/2016 / 8:32 PM

Yeah, I hear you about the trying. I mean, for starters here I am replying to comments left on this post. I officially win at today! lol x

You have a lot going on and a wedding to plan so don’t stress yourself out about it. Jean

    • 10/05/2016 / 8:31 PM

Even before that my popping over to blogs to read and comment was awful! Things will change though, but thanks! x

Ahh bless you Debs, I can SO relate! And its so hard to keep up with everything we need to do. Blogging is an insanely busy thing to keep up with in itself and then being mum and making time for looking after your home and making time for your relationship on top of that – I need about 20 more hours in the day, and thats without sleeping much already!!

I absolutely get it and I feel much the same!!

    • 10/05/2016 / 8:31 PM

It’s so nice to read that I’m not alone Hayley! Blogging is a CRAZY busy thing to be into huh! I never thought it would be when I started and now look at me, us even! lol. xx

I hear ya! I do try to follow all the ‘rules’ though and comment on as many blogs as poss. It’s just really difficult to find the time. Most of us prob feel the same as you – you’re not alone!

    • 10/05/2016 / 8:29 PM

It’s so time consuming, but kudos to you for sticking to it as best you can! My track record for commenting lately has been truly awful. Shameful even! Glad to hear that I’m not alone too though! x

  5. 10/05/2016 / 12:41 AM

It’s hard finding the time to visit all the blogs. I subscribe to hundreds and I try to go through my email notifications each and every night to post a reply. Don’t worry we still love you x

    • 10/05/2016 / 8:29 PM

It’s seriously hard to find the time! I try not to subscribe, as in truth I really HATE the newsletter emails I get from them all! lol! I will be making more of an effort though – look at me even now….replying to comments!! I’m winning so far! lol xx

I don’t do it as often as I should, I too struggle to find the time to sit and read, and often finding the types of blogs you like is quite hard.
That’s one reason I like blog hops and linkys, I have found a few new favourites that way. 🙂

    • 10/05/2016 / 8:27 PM

It’s very time consuming isn’t it. I tend to only read ones that catch my eye on my facebook newsfeed these days {which is just an awful revelation!} I envy those people who trawl through bloglovin for posts….but time just isn’t on my side! x

I honestly think a lot of people will be able to relate to this so you’re not alone.

I gave up the Weekend Blog Hop because I just didn’t have time to comment on all the lovely blogs that linked up and maintain my own blog as well!

    Sending lots of hugs

    Laura x x x

    • 10/05/2016 / 8:26 PM

I do hope so, because I feel like I’m the ONLY one who doesn’t comment. Which sucks in itself! It’s hard running a linky, I don’t think people get quite how time consuming they can be! Thanks lovely xx

I love reading and commenting on other blogs, it’s a huge thing for me BUT I don’t do it to get comments and traffic in return. I just do it because I love it and I know other people often don’t have the time to return the favour x

    • 10/05/2016 / 8:15 PM

I love that you love reading blogs so much. I envy the time and effort you manage to put in every single day. You’re a machine! haha! I’m not looking for more traffic etc, but I do feel horrendously bad for not being able to make time like others do. I’m trying though. x

I am trying to read and comment more having had a break from blogging! I’m a super busy mum too but that 20 mins I waste scrolling through Facebook (at least 10 times a day) needs to stop. I love the new link threads in the Facebook group (this is how I found your blog!) and I feel that it’s helping me more and pushing me a little!

Sometimes life just gets in the way, no need to be apologising. I give myself some time each day to read my favourite blogs, it’s my little bit of me time. Even if it’s only 5 minutes 🙂

  11. 10/05/2016 / 11:23 PM

No need to apologise and something many of us are guilty of. Myself included there. There just aren’t enough hours in the day

  12. 11/05/2016 / 6:50 AM

Sounds like a plan. I do read and comment on a lot of blogs but it ebbs and flows depending on how busy I am – sometimes life dictates that I have other priorities. I do make a point of replying or at least liking every comment I receive on my blog, even though it’s often several days behind. But sometimes you do have to do what you’ve done – stop doing something to make room for other things.

  13. 11/05/2016 / 9:51 AM

Thank you for running the linky for so long – I’ve found some great blogs to read via it and made a few friends.

I am in awe of people who give up the time to run one each week – as just doing the commenting is a huge time suck, let alone all the work that actually doing one involves. I completely get where you’re coming from. Sometimes you need to stop doing something in order to make room for other things. Enjoy working out what they are – and then enjoy doing them!

No need to apologise at all!

  14. 11/05/2016 / 10:39 AM

Debs you’ve done such a great job of keeping up with the linky, you should really be proud. Since taking over Post Comment Love linky from @VicWelton I’ve realised how much effort it takes to promote and keep up with everyone who links up. AND I have a co-host too!!

You’re a great blogger, and we all have those times when life gets in the way, or on top of us, and we can’t cope with it all at once. Give yourself the time YOU need first, then come back to the blog and check out others too. There’s absolutely no need to apologise, we all go through it, and we all understand. *Hugs*

  15. 11/05/2016 / 11:34 AM

Oh Debs, it takes a lot to keep up with a blog, and you’re trying your best, so never apologize for that. Commenting has become difficult for me as well. I follow a blogging schedule that allots me some time during the week, but there are just days I can’t keep up.

We’re humans and we’re not perfect, but as long as we’re trying and learning, that’s what matters most. Loyal readers to your blog won’t stop coming by they don’t see you on the comment line of their post. They’ll come back no matter what because your posts are useful and inspiring to them. So numbers may be decreasing, but at the end of the day, it’s about quality over quantity…and if you ask me, you have quality here all the time.

It is hard. I’ve not read any blogs on my bloglovin feed in a year, but I do make the effort for linkys and if I spot posts on twitter that take my fancy, plus ones I email subscribe too. But I’m struggling to do more than that plus reply to comments on my blog. I’m trying to cut down the number of posts I do but I’m struggling to do that too because I’ve too many posts in draft and too many ideas.

But I’m debating giving up all but 4 linkys a week to do more reading of the blogs I love. The only problem is that linkys is a great way to meet other new bloggers – although maybe I won’t join the linkys but will just search out new blogs via them so there’s less pressure.

Good luck with your change of focus – hope it goes as you plan

  17. 12/05/2016 / 12:44 AM

I am bad at it, too. I participate in SITS weekly linkup and I do visit several blogs that day. But I’d like to become better with it. I’ve joined on as a host for a Pintastic (Pinterest) Party and that should help me, too!

  18. 15/05/2016 / 10:23 PM

Oh honey it’s so hard to keep up with everything you have a lot on. The wedding plans are very exciting. I struggle a lot between work, kids, blog, but we do our best and people should understand that. Hugs xx
