Modernise your apartment in 3 ways

When I was younger I always envisioned myself subletting an apartment. I have a thing for views and the higher up you are in an apartment block, the better the view. So, yeah, that was always a dream of mine when I was younger. Of course, that never happened for me, however, I have fond memories of my Dads apartment and even though he was only on the fourth floor, the view was still pretty good. Walking up the stairs when the elevator was out of order, on the other hand, was not so amazing.

However, one thing I did do when I got older was to travel and through those experiences, I’ve stayed in a few cities and spent the night in a few different apartments. I absolutely love getting away, brushing off those cobwebs and seeing the sights, however, I don’t know if you guys ever do it when you’re staying away from home, especially in some modern apartments in the city. But I am constantly on the lookout for inspiration to add to our own home. You do it too right? I know you do!

There are so many beautiful aspects to these city apartments that give them their own unique feel and charm. It could be the choice of laminate flooring that was used because nothing says modern that a decadent wooden floor, especially in a gorgeous open plan kitchen. Much easier to keep clean too if you ask me. Especially if you have a small army at home {like myself}, as well as some added pets {which my children, are trying to strong-arm us into getting!}. So having the ability to clean up easier and quicker {which I think is achievable with a wooden floor} is always a winner in my eyes.

Or perhaps it was the addition of modern lighting throughout the apartment that stood out the most for you. I personally love putting on a sprinkle of lamps and dimming the lighting in the evenings at home to add to the mood. I am also a huge candle lover and especially in the Winter, I love having those low-lit rooms to make you feel more relaxed.

The other aspect that I love about apartment life is the comfort. Whether it be from the couch in the living room, or the armchair in the corner or even the sofa beds for a great nights sleep. I have really enjoyed modifying our home to resemble {slightly} apartment life. With wooden flooring, comfy seating and even down to a recent chair for our cosy corner. It just needs a reading light now and it will be the perfect comfy area for reading your newspaper or latest novel.

I absolutely adore that simplistic, modern feel that staying in an apartment can give and being a super busy mum with a super busy home adding those touches to our own home isn’t an easy feat. Especially with the children marking their territory every moment of every day! But I can try.
