How I plan to pay for Christmas this year

Ok, so…before you flip out at me, yes I’m aware it’s only September but listen up – Christmas will be here in no time at all and we need to be prepared for that.

I’m a person who likes to be prepared. I like to be ready and I would also prefer a less crazy December that doesn’t involve last minute toy shop runs, gift wrapping and panicking that the local butchers are out of goose fat! I’d like it to be filled with cozy festive movie nights on the sofa with my family, dorky Christmas games, glitter fueled crafts and eating far too many chocolate treats, because, you know – it’s Christmas!

I am a Mother of five, so Christmas becomes an eye weepingly expensive time of year for me – however each year we give the children a budget. A set amount of money that we will either give them or spend on them. Which, when there’s so many of them, I think that’s the sensible thing to do.

This year, thankfully the children don’t need much. They have their tablets, their TV’s and their Photoshop programs. They don’t need anything {really}. But they’ll still get gifts – obviously – so how am I going to pay for it all this year?

Here’s my secret – for the last few weeks, I’ve been collecting vouchers. I find if I collect them up each week you don’t notice the money being spent so much. It also looks a lot kinder to my bank account too!

Cinema vouchers will be popping into my kids Christmas stockings this year, as well as clothing shop vouchers – It’s all about the gift cards this year people! I’ve also been looking into discount vouchers – because, every penny counts, right? I came across Voucherslugs which is a great money off voucher site and will come in handy for any gifts I buy online. Which is pretty much {usually} everything!

So there you go, my Christmas secret for 2017 – Vouchers! They’re super easy to pick up every week and they’re a great gift for those older kids who no longer get toys from Santa. I have four of those. Four. So this Christmas is going to be raining vouchers for them!

How do you plan on handling Christmas this year?
