February Half term! | Zoo trips, Bowling & ear infections!

The first school half term of the year has been & gone already. Isn’t that crazy? The children loved having a good 10 days off school – me, not so much! Because it felt like it was too soon after their Christmas break for them to be having another one! But it happened, it’s behind us now and even though I had my butt kicked by a nasty ear infection, we still managed to have a good time.

I didn’t get any time to plan anything in particular because January & the first half of February went by so fast! However, our rabbit Hopper was checked in to be castrated, {poor little guy!} during our half term break. So it felt like the perfect day to do something to help keep the kids distracted. According to the vet, sedating a rabbit is the trickiest part, due to their very small oesophagus’. So we were advised to call up early afternoon to see if his surgery went well – queue the nerves! I never thought I would love this little long-eared dude as much as I do. But he’s a part of the family now and we treat him as such – even if he has eaten his way through two phone chargers!

Once we left Hopper with the vet, we ventured off for breakfast then paid a visit to Belfast Zoo. We’re very lucky to live quite close to the zoo and it was great to see a few changes had been made since our last visit! If you haven’t been since last Easter – you’ll love the new extended reptile house, the huge family of porcupines & the new Buzz room with thousands of busy bees!

A few weeks ago, I shared a post here on the blog about our evening at the Lost City Adventure Golf centre in Belfast. We were kindly given a few golden tokens in our goodie bags which gave us a few free games – so the kids were thrilled to be going back! It was pretty busy – being half term I didn’t even think! But it was fun all the same. Annabelle even scored not one, but TWO holes in one! This kid either has some mad skills or is the luckiest little lady this side of the Irish Sea!

We managed to squeeze in a game of bowling – as requested by the kids! It was a lot of fun and I have to hand it to our 5yr old, she almost beat us all! She was dishing out spares and everything!

To round off our half term, we made a trip to the cinema – to watch Maze Runner Death Cure {my kids are huge Maze Runner fans!}. It was a great movie and a really touching ending to the trilogy. If you’re a fan, I highly recommend going to see it. So aside from getting out of the house a few days out of the week, we had nerf wars, made brownies and all while I battled with a nasty ear infection. We made it fun nevertheless!

Nice to see you had some blue skies over the half term, and managed to get out and about with the kids. Sorry to hear you suffered with an ear ache though 🙁 x

If I’m being totally honest, I always dread half terms! I always feel like we’re going to be bored and I’m going to have to constantly come up with things to do! But this one was pretty good. I’m sorry you had an ear infection though, they are so much more painful than they sound aren’t they! Hope you’re feeling better now & hope little Hopper is too! The zoo looks like a lot of fun! (That goat photo is hilarious!)

Haha – I am usually the same! And at the end of the day, it really all comes down to the weather! And a little secret? That goat pic was a fluke, I was just snapping away and there his face was, haha!

Poor Hopper! I hope he’s all healed and recovered now? Looks like you all had a fun trip to the zoo and bowling too – how awesome! My kids love bowling, but we’ve only ever been once as there’s no alley on our island.

He is all better now, yes, thank you! He wasn’t too pleased us for a few days, but sure that was to be expected!

Ear infections ARE the worst! And thank you – all grand now – other than a little deafness {but sure it drowns out the Husbands snoring!} lol x

Looks like a lot of fun minus the ear infections. Half term was filled with illness for us this end too.
