Christmas shopping {& seeing Santa!} at The Outlet in Banbridge

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to take my two youngest children to The Outlet in Banbridge – a shopping centre that I had never been too before – so I was excited to have a look round.

The Outlet Banbridge at Christmas

Christmas time is such an insanely busy time of the year – from the gift shopping, making sure you have enough food in to feed five thousand people {and maybe a few more}, wrapping everything, planning the antics of our scout elves and even keeping the magic of Santa fresh in the minds of our children. It’s an intense time of year, but my days, it’s a beautiful one!

We had a very short visit to The Outlet in Banbridge, but after visiting, I am already making plans to go back. It is such a huge Outlet and we only saw about two-thirds of it, I think. It had loads of shops that I have never {personally} seen or heard of before, so that was lovely. And I liked seeing some of our favourites too, such as The Works – which is the perfect place to get new books for the children, and craft supplies too.

While visiting The Outlet we had the opportunity to go and visit Santa. This was the first Santa the children were getting the chance to see and I was shocked to hear that this Santas Grotto was a free one. I half expected to see very little love going into a free Santa’s Grotto but I could not have been more wrong because this was the most magical Santa Grotto experience we have ever had that has been in a shopping mall.

We were greeted by Toby the Elf who was flamboyant, loud, funny and just amazing. The children’s eyes were wide and they gasped when he brought out ‘the book’ to see if they were on the Nice or the Naughty list before entering the Grotto. He even showed them his ‘real’ shoes – because when they’re brought here they grow reeeeeally tall – but back in the North pole they are super small. So he pulled out the tiniest pair of wooden clogs from his pocket and the kids were just dazzled by that. We were all on the nice list and Toby the Elf opened the door for us!

The kids walked through the most gorgeous and Christmassy layout to a little area where they could write their letters to Santa and post them before going round to see the big man himself in his snow topped cottage.

Santa was just adorable with the kids. He asked them so many questions and even made a special request for what he would like left out for him on Christmas Eve. They were kindly given a selection box each and after a good five minutes with Santa, waved their goodbyes and we walked round to be greeted with elves making balloons.

It was the loveliest experience and before leaving we popped some money into the charity donation bucket. Now, it was time to do a little Christmas gift shopping before getting our bus home.

We popped into The Works for a few bits, we also went into the Beauty Outlet to get a few things {chosen by the four-year old} for her Aunty and the lastly popped into Toy Town where the kids brought their big Sister a Christmas present.

All in all, it was a pretty successful trip and one that I would love to have spent longer in.

The Outlet in Banbridge is somewhere you could easily spend a good afternoon in! There were so many shops we didn’t get to pop into – it was late and I had a four-year-old for starters! But there were places to eat, loads of shops to nosy in and it has a cinema! So it’s certainly a place I would love to go back to sometime soon.

A huge thanks to The Outlet for making our first trip to see Santa in 2017 a truly magical one! And for helping us tick a few things off the Christmas list this year!!

Disclosure: I was kindly gifted a voucher to spend whilst visiting The Outlet. All thoughts, photos & opinions are entirely my own.

Its days like these that make Christmas shopping magical. Does The Outlet have discounts all year round? There is an outlet village in Yorkshire, England; where my wife likes to go shopping regularly. Mainly because she is a great bargain hunter.

What an absolutely wonderful looking place to spend time Christmas shopping and how great the kids can go and stop off and see santa, it looks like it has been so well thought out and put together as well, not just thrown together in a few minutes as some do.
