Child-friendly Mauritius

When I think of Mauritius it doesn’t really spark me as a destination to holiday with my children. It comes across as very much a couples place to visit, to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings. However, after a little online research, it seems I was wrong. So I thought I would put together a few insights to why Mauritius should be on your travel bucket list, including the kids.

Mauritius has a great selection of family resorts to stay in and enjoy and I really appreciate being told what age range of children the resort is perfect for. For example, the gorgeous Trou Aux Biches Resort & Spa is perfect for 8-12yr olds {tweens} whereas the beautiful La Pirogue is aimed at children aged 2 to 11yrs. These resorts have exciting features such as trips on semi-submersible scooters, parasailing, going for crab hunts on the beach, dolphin watching, pizza making and so much more.

For day trips out of your resort, you can take the kids to the Crocodile & Giant Tortoises Park & Nature reserve. Set in a beautiful rainforest valley you will be able to see a variety of species of animals from reptiles, fish, plants and more. For something a little more cultural you could always pay a visit to the Sugar Museum & Factory. You can also pop over to the East Coast side of the island to visit the Kids Adventure Park which is aimed at children for ages.

I think my children would make some epic memories visiting Mauritius, also taking part in activities that they’ve never done before. I mean, how many times have you been dolphin watching as a child? Or stroked a tortoise before hand feeding it leaves. Those are the type of memories that stay with you for a lifetime and I think as a Mother, it’s all about creating unforgettable memories with your children and I think Mauritius has that ability in spades.

Have you ever been to Mauritius? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
