Carrick at Christmas | An afternoon of food & shopping

Last weekend, I was very kindly invited along to the lovely #CarrickatChristmas event – which was to be an afternoon of yoga, brunch & an afternoon of gift shopping. Carrickfergus has always been one of my favourite towns, every since I was little. It is where my Grandparents lived – on my Father’s side – for most of their lives. It is where my Dad was born & raised and it’s a place where I have an array of lovely childhood memories. The morning started at the lovely Ownies Bar & Bistro where we mingled with fellow bloggers, had a…

8 reasons to visit Bali | Travel

What else do you think about when it’s baltic cold outside? That’s right, the sun on your skin and white sand beneath your toes. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m not a fan of the cold. I don’t mind the rain {weird, I know} but I truly dislike it when it’s cold. With the weather the last few weeks, it got me thinking, or more…dreaming of sun, sea & sand. Our family holidays are never ‘sun, sea & sand’ but more Family holidays in Haven – which are all well & good – don’t get me wrong! But,…

Giving my son his grown up bedroom wish!

Ever since we moved into our home, almost eight years ago now, Jacob has always had the box bedroom. He has gone from having a mid-sleeper to a cabin bed, white walls, to blue walls – the change over the years has been ongoing. But this year I have saved and saved to give him the grown-up bedroom that he deserves. His bedroom has always had to be done last – when referring to the kid’s bedrooms {my bedroom doesn’t even register!}. Over the years, he has hardly complained and the Mum guilt – due to that – hit hard…

Taking control of our finances to buy our first home

I am just going to come out and say it – privately renting sucks. My Husband and I are literally throwing money away every month – which makes saving for a deposit to buy our home difficult {to say the least}.  Then when you factor in the expense of our children, bills, buying food & clothes – the list goes on & on – we are finding it incredibly difficult to save up to buy a forever home.  I left home at quite a young age – seventeen – so I never took the chance to stay at home, to work…

Autumn, you are our favourite…

Autumn, is such a beautiful time of the year, wouldn’t you agree? I think you’d be hard-pressed to find someone who isn’t a fan of this gorgeous season. I think it’s a tough season not to fall in love with. The gorgeous colours that are everywhere you look, the crunchy leaves beneath your feet and not to mention the hot chocolate on tap! Which, should totally be a thing – don’t you think so?  Our days are getting shorter but if it’s dry outside? We have no excuses not to wrap up warm & go outside. “The fresh air will…

Mums on the Go: Different Ways to Feed Your Family on a Budget

How many times have we dealt with the dilemma of trying to figure out what to make for dinner for your family? All too many times I’m sure. I often times, get stuck in a habit of making the same things all the time for my family. I mean, I’ll ask everyone in the house what they want for dinner, and they’ll say it doesn’t matter, or they don’t care…and my favourite, “whatever you want babe.” When I get responses like that, I go to my oldie but goodies…it’s food I know my family enjoys and I know it won’t…

5 ways to make the most out of space in a small kitchen

When I was little, all I wanted to do was grow up. Which, I know is the opposite to what our parents want, because they want to try and keep us little for as long as possible. Now? I’m the grown-up, with a family of my own and all I have ever wanted for my family is a beautiful home.  We have lived in our home for almost 8yrs now.  It’s your standard 3 bedroomed, terrace home and even though she has her faults – we love it all the same. However, if I was ever given the chance to…

Long car journeys & looking after your tyres, with Kwik Fit

I don’t drive, just to make that clear. It’s a skill that I wish I had learned when I was younger {and it was cheaper to learn!}. But I’m not drawing a line underneath that just yet! I still have plenty of time for that. However, even though I don’t drive, that doesn’t mean I haven’t been or went on long car journeys/road trips and picked up some car knowledge along the way. I’m a curious bunny, so I am forever asking questions about “How do you know when to change gear?” or “How often do you change your tyres?”.…
