A New Christmas tradition

As a child growing up I would’ve adored having my very own family scout elf, sent from Santa to make sure I deserved to be on the ‘nice list’. Now, even though I never got this at Christmas, I am thrilled to be starting it this year for my children.

Once I found out about Elf on a Shelf, I bought one straight away and waited in anticipation for it to arrive. Our scout elf thankfully arrived just a few days before he was due to ‘arrive’ at our home via The North Pole. I think by this point I was as excited as a child would be for the magic of Christmas, to finally settle into our home. That build up of excitement, the blooming of magical wonder, the believing and the Christmas wishes fill up your home and make it feel absolutely, festively wonderful.

It was finally the morning of his arrival and before I knew it I had two children come into my bedroom and waking me up with angered fussiness, demanding to know who had scribbled all over there faces! Well, I wouldn’t possibly have known who the culprit was *wink* however both Ellie and Jacob were insistent that their two teenage brothers were responsible! I couldn’t help but feel super mischievous and we carried on downstairs.

Once downstairs I sat the children down and I asked them if they remembered me talking about our ‘special visitor’ that was coming to stay. They both gasped with delight, completely forgetting about their pen covered faces. Once they spotted him, sat smiling on our mantle piece there was dramatic pointing and “Jacob look!” “Oh my Ellie, I see him!”. He was holding a sharpy pen and a post-it saying “Look in the mirror” ha! The children clicked that it was he that was the scribbling culprit! Needless to say they were excited and this gave my tummy a wee flutter inside. The growth of magic in our home had started!
All day the children where aware of Tinsel watching and ready to report back to Santa that evening. But…sadly….as siblings go the bickering started. So on morning#2 of having Tinsel in our home he left the children this…
It’s a message direct from the big man himself! Now I just hope they listen to him as they clearly don’t listen to me! I wonder what Tinsel will get up to for the rest of the week! 😉
Do you have an elf staying over December? What naughtiness is he/she getting up to?

Fantastic! I think our elf needs to leave my two monsters a similar message. I plan on drawing on the kids faces on Friday night, I’m a wee bit worried it’ll stain and then at least I’d have 2 days for it to fade before school 😉

Thanks for linking up with Point + Shoot xx
