A magical Christmas experience at Castlecourt, Belfast

Being a blogger can be pretty crazy – from the things you are sent to review to the places you get invited to visit. No two days are the same {most of the time} and the kids get so much out of it, that it makes the long hours typing into the night, 100% worth it. Any other blogger out there will get that this time of year i.e. Christmas time, can be manic. I tend to miss out on a good chunk of the magic and end up missing the build-up to the big day. However, not this year!

When the end of the summer holidays came about, I knew that Christmas would be upon us in the blink of an eye {and I was right because here we are!}. I vowed to work like an absolute maniac, have all of my Christmas shopping done {and wrapped} so I could enjoy the build-up to Christmas with my family.

So, when we received the most exciting invitation through the door from the lovely people at Castlecourt – for the kids to be Toy testers {for the Big man himself} – the kids could not wait! It was going to be a magical morning of Christmas breakfast, making their own Christmas Eve boxes, toy testing and then having a special VIP meet with Santa Claus himself! I mean, if that isn’t a magical way to kick off the festive season, I don’t know what is.

Better still, we were getting access to the whole of Castlecourt before it was even open. Walking into Castlecourt, when it was all decorated for Christmas and nobody else about was the strangest feeling, but the kids loved it. We were taken to Insomnia, where we were spoiled for choice when having a spot of breakfast.

Insomnia, Castlecourt

After delicious croissants and scrumptious hot chocolates, the kids were invited to make their own Christmas eve boxes. This was such a nice treat and the kids loved every minute of it. I mean, when your wee, having the chance to just pick and choose from a table filled with all sorts of crafts, books, blind bags and more, is pretty amazing! Just look at those faces!

This was such a magical thing for the kids to do and now mine lot cannot wait for Christmas eve to be able to open & play with all of there little bits & pieces. If anything, it will certainly keep them occupied and happy as myself & the Husband get sorted for Christmas day!!

Next up, it was time for some toy testing, but not without going down to the big tree at the front of the store, in style. The kids face when they saw these were amazing!

The girls got to drive down to the Christmas tree at the front of the store and to say they loved it would be an understatement! I was quite jealous that I didn’t get a go myself if I am completely honest with you!

The kids had a great time playing with and testing a whole bunch of fun toys, such as Glow Track {which my niece particularly loved}, the Yoyo {which is what my Jacob has asked for from Santa}. It didn’t surprise me that Annabelle went straight for the nerf gun and used the area at the front of Castlecourt as her own battlefield!

It was such a lovely part of the morning and the kids got some extra ideas of what they’d like to have added to their Christmas wish lists. A huge thanks to The Entertainer for letting them test & play with the toys during the event!!

The kids were also surprised to receive their own personalised jar of Nutella! My kid’s faces were hilarious because they love Nutella!!

Our next stop was Santa’s Grotto! The Grotto in Castlecourt this year is a free event – which is so nice because the kids get a little gift too! It will, of course, cost you to have a photo keepsake as well as a selection of other little bits. The Santa is so lovely, he was super jolly with the kids and gave them special instructions what he’d like left out for him on Christmas eve – which my bunch are taking very seriously!

Seeing Santa at the end of the event was just the cherry on top of the cake for my bunch – they all had such an amazingly magical time. From being treated to breakfast in Insomnia, making their own Christmas Eve boxes, having the special ride-on down to the tree to test out all of the toys and of course, meeting the big man himself. Castlecourt, thank you for such a lovely, lovely event that, even now, my tribe are still talking about!

If you live in or near Belfast and have yet to see Santa, try to pop down to Castlecourt and give him a visit! He’s so lovely, you’ll be glad you did!

Disclosure: We were invited along to this event, no payment was taken to write about this experience. I did so because it was so, so lovely. All thoughts, photos and opinions are my own.
