10 Ideas to help keep the kids entertained at a Wedding

If you don’t know already I will be marrying my best friend in four weeks time. Which sounds insane to say out loud because four weeks is no time at all. Since he proposed to me, and through us planning our big day the time has flown by so fast. I’m still in a little bubble of disbelief that our big day is almost here.

Our Wedding day will have children there. Scores and scores of little ones all dressed up and looking gorgeous. So, naturally, we need to keep them entertained during the festivities, right? We already have a children’s entertainment table, which is included in our photo booth package. However, they are only there for an allotted time. So once they’re done, I’ll have another table made up for the kids to change over too. In fact, it’s going to be a kids corner!

So I just thought as the ideas are whooshing through my head, that I would share some super fun and cost-effective ideas to help keep those little ones entertained during the Wedding reception.

1. Have a Kids table and stock it with lots of colouring in pages and crayons.

2. Provide the kids with a bubble basket. Do check with your hotel first though as some places can be funny about certain things.

 3. Have a games table.

4. Give the kids some lego to play with.

5. Have a ‘kids-only’ time on the dance floor! {Around 15-30minutes – tiring them out before the adults can get their groove on!}

6. Surprise the kids with asking the DJ to play ‘Let It Go’ when they’re on the dance floor.

7. Hire a face painter, balloon modeller or even consider a magician!

8. Have a camera scavenger hunt {perfect for the older kids} . Give them cards with disposable cameras to help them tick off each one they find.

9. Quiz time! Another one for the older kids. Make up a quiz for them and everyone who answers all of the questions in the booklet correctly wins a small prize.

10. Let love ‘GLOW’ – Ok so, this one is INSANELY cheesy, but just think of the kids covered in glow stick bracelets and/or necklaces as they dance the evening away. It’s a good way to spot them in a crowd too! 😉

    This is such a great post! My aunt got married at the weekend and she had a set of colouring books and a sweet jar for the kids at the reception to keep them occupied!

    Some great ideas here! We went to a wedding at the weekend and I would highly recommend a sweet cart where they can pick their own and glow sticks (like you mentioned) which they were transforming into glasses! x

      Thanks so much Emma. A cousin of the Groom is doing our Candy cart for the wedding. One less thing for me to worry about! I also have glow sticks for the kids table. They should look awesome on the dance floor, haha. x
